Problem when play DVD on 4 speckers mode

Hi. I have some problem with drivers. I have WinXP Pro, SB Live OEM and KX 35.28 drivers. When i start to play some dvd with software players (Power DVD Deluxe 4.0 or WinDVD Platinum 4.51) in 4 speackers mode the only i hear is the buzz.
With standart win xp drivers all works fine.

basics:

P3-800, Live! 5.1 Platinum, XP Pro, kx Driver Version: 5.10.00.3526

running PowerDVD xp 4.0 with the patch update... same deal, it works fine on 2 speaker setting (from the audio tab in powerdvd), but on 4- or 6- speaker it just has a buzzing noise on all channels, no sound at all...

tried setting the windows speakers set-up to 'quadrophonic' or some sort of stereo set up... no luck.

using the same kx drivers with the same powerdvd worked fine no probs in 98se... just seems that something's fukked up with the kx drivers for xp (maybe just when doing more than 2 channel "mixdown" decoding for AC-3 possibly?)

it's just sort of annoying more than anything cos i've got rear speakers set up ... and a projector

hope someone finds out what's up...
