SB22x(229) Issue

1st: Big thanks to Eugene for the new release!!! Hail to the king.
2nd: Still no sound from the rear-channel(front(or rear, if you swap) & center/lfe is working) SC is reported as SB0229. Any ideas how to fix it or back to 3538h and Russ's plug-in?

Unfortunately ive done a rollback to the 3538h(with Russ's Plugin), so i cant try it out as fast as i wish to.

Before i did this, ive played around with the speaker-settings, and noticed a strange behaviour:

with a 2.x setting the rear speaker worked - tried with the kx-text, with 4.x and higher -> no results.

Short Report about Audigy2Value status

Hi!

Checked the new release with my Audigy2V (SB0400):

- Sound is working on each SPDIF output frequency (with 3538h only at 96000 Hz)
- Sound is coming out of analog outs while digital outputs are selected (like before)
- SPDIF in is fully functional (expanding I/O on cards rear bracket) (like before)
- SPDIF out sends a valid audio stream at all sample rates, but no sound at all (like before)
- no other bugs detected yet (further testing necessary)

Thank you Eugene for the hard work!

No sound, only noise

I used the old 3537 and the 3538 betas: were a must on my audigy2!

But now with the 3538i release i can get only static noise, very high level! [img]images/smilies/sigh.gif[/img]
I reinstalled old 3538h and all sounds fine. Can anyone help me to find what is wrong?

kX see my sound card as SB0240 10k2 F440.

Thanks,

Piovrauz

P.S.: sorry I have wrote this in the "3538i is out" post for error, please forgive me.

* 'show window content while dragging' feature is 'experimental' and might cause certain issues
if I turn OFF this feature - can't use DSP window, NO right mouse button menu (there are right-click menus for effects, and can connect them using mouse dragging, right-clicking does not work on empty DSP areas)
turning the feature ON - right mouse menu in DSP appears again.

Thanks a ton guys... (Eugene and company)

But....
KX synth - MIDI Channel 10 will not make drum sounds in Sonar 4.02.

I tried changing bank select methods in both kx and sonar - bank/patch selecting works for all other channels, as I can choose and hear sounds loaded onto non 0 banks. But I cant hear anyhing on ch10. I can preview in vienna however. This has changed from 3538h. Songs save in sonar that worked with KX3538h - no longer can I hear drums on ch 10.

also is it possible to make it so when a patch is selected on ch 10 drums - (the GS valid patches are spread apart and non-sequential) to keep using last working patch until next pacth gets loaded. So you would always at least hear something on ch 10. 3538h I had to use patch 1 - and patch 0 - the default would not make a sound - I may have said this backwards.)

I have WinXPSP2 / SB0350 (Audigy 2zs Plat)

I'm having exactly the same problem, not only with 0240 but also with a 0060 (I have a dual card setup). I guess there is definitely a problem with 3538i and these cards.

The profx plugins in the 3538i distribution were older builds compiled for this release for some reason

wait until the newer seperate package is released

here is an email i received from lemury on the topic during our testing
Quote:
Current ProFX v2.x, Asynth and Drummachine are not (yet) compiled for/with
3538i.
Hence the incompatibility.
The AC97 plugin included in this 3538i release is just a very old version
which Eugene included in the lib.
It will be replaced with a new version of course.
so this issue is known and should be corrected in the near future

@Maddogg6,

Do you have the FXMix2 plugin loaded?
Those sliders are loaded along with the FXMix2 plugin.

Only to confirm this! Seems that 3538i does somthing BAD to SB0240 (plain Audigy 2) I could not get any sound at all, doing no matter what in DSP...
Is something wrong with epilog? Had to revert to 3538h... Only to mention that i'm not newbie in this...

They are missing after 're-initialize DSP' - which, removed my custom DSP setup and put it to 'default' - I assume thats what the re-int dsp does. Anyway, yes FXMix2 is loaded. But I may have messed that up by editing it once without making new/creat new guid. Thats probably whats wrong.

Ill re-install. Can I do an un-install - anf JUST install 3538i (a full install) - or is that an update to 3835h (and need to start from 3538c - it think it was)?

When playing back a MIDI file using 3538i, there are no drums sounding when using a GM soundfont. All other instruments seem to work, but not the drums. I used a GM softsynth called TTS-1, and it plays all tracks.

Can others see if they can reproduce this situation?

1) load a GM soundfont
2) Set MIDI playback device for appropriate kX Synth in control panel
3) open a MIDI file in WMP or a sequencer and play it.

I did this an expected to hear all tracks play, but the drum track does not sound.

I'm using an Audigy (SB0092)

@Maddogg6, 3538i is a full install, so that is all you need.

BTW: You might try the following first:
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\kX\Plugins]
"fa7c5e74-1b53-4ac3-b54f-93559e0018bf"="C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\kxfxlib.kxl"
"fa7c5e74-1b53-4ac3-b54f-93559e0018bf.name"="FXMix2"
Copy and paste the above into a blank text document, save it as a .reg file, and then double click the file to add the info to the registry. Then reintialize the DSP, and see if the sliders are back.

-Russ

BTW: The above assumes that "C:\Windows" is your Windows directory.

Thanks Russ, I did get them to show - I think I messed up editing the original FXMix2 module with out making a new one and copy (minus the guid).

Do those registry settings get wiped at un-install / and fixed with a re-install (in past versions?)

Thnaks again.

Yeah, the "Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth" works as well. It is just the kX Synth's that have the drum problem.

Not sure, as I have yet to try an uninstall, but as you noticed yourself (as did I with one of my custom plugins), that they do not get fixed with a re-install/uprade if they have been changed. I would guess that a full uninstall would wipe out the registry keys, but I cannot be sure (I wiped it out myself before installing 3538i, since the old plugins (.kxl's anyway) are not compatible with 3538i. BTW: I would not necessarily recommend that anyone else do this, as .da plugins are compatible, and you will lose any saved presets.).

Ok - I just did a complete un-install - it asks what you want removed - I answered YES to remove all (drivers, reg keys)

Re-installed - not sure if this is normal, but I HAD to re-boot to have the 3538i install recognize my sound card.

But after a re-boot - I canceled the windows 'found new hardware' wizard, and ran the kx install - without a hitch.

All is good the original FXMix2 is restored to it pervious, unaletered version -

Now its just the midi drum/kx synth thing.

You could probably avoid the reboot if you went into device manager and had it scan for hardware changes, but the reboot is not a bad thing, and is often necessary to remove/replace files that are in use, etc.
