Problem with SPDIF input.

I have a sound blaster Audigy 2 Platinum in my computer. When I feed in the digital audio (SPDIF out) from my satellite receiver it drops out all the time. I have tried the sound blaster Driver and the KX driver, but both have the same problem. This seems to happen when the sound is quiet.

If I connect the same output from my satellite, with the same optical cable, to any of my surround receivers (Denon, Sony, and Sunfire) it work fine with no dropouts. I have multiple satellite receiver boxes (Dish Network 501, 6000, 921) and autigy exhibit the same problem. with all of them

Also, I have a friend that has the exact same card and is having the same problem with his digital cable box (I think it is made by Motorola).

Now when I use the Kx driver the analog input (2) drops out when the SPDIF drops out. Even it the SPDIF is muted.

I really want to use the Kx driver, because of the list of extra features (mainly multiple cards), but may have to find a different sound card all together. Although there isn’t a lot of chooses.

Thanks for any help, or information, and it would be greatly appreciated.

Try to connect a digital audio device (CD-Player, MD-Player) via optical cable on the SPDIF input. Open DSP and insert a SRC plugin (ProFX) as a source and insert a PEAK plugin to check the audio level. Connect SRC with PEAK and select on SRC "coaxial/optical" and check the level. If there is something, connect your sattellite again. Be sure that you don´t feed AC3 content into the card, decoding of AC3 works in another way, check the 3D-Audio forum.
