help! error initializing winMM subsystem

it worked all fine for a day, but then (after the first reboot i suspect) the kx mixer started to give me the error initializing winMM subsystem. i tried the suggested reinstallation but it doesnt help. i am using version 3537 on win XP. the sound works fine, but there's no mixer and the sound item in control panel tells me thats there's no sound device. i tried to put the card in different slots, and reinstall the drivers. this didnt help. i don't know what to do to solve this issue, is it a bug? suggestions please.

Have a similar problem. The kxmixer won't work but the driver installed properly. On startup I get failed to initalize winmm subsystem. This is with my new system and a old system and all driver versions including the new beta. Funny thing is I can get it to work if I disable my Yamaha DSP Factory and then run the kxmixer then reenable my DSP Factory in device manager. Bother then work find so far. Anybody out there have any ideas. Running Windows XP Service pack 1 and have tried service pack 2 with exact same hardware. This is a pain in the but way to work. If I use the EMU APS Windows XP drivers I get no errors at all.

Sound Cards:
E-MU APS
Yamaha DSP Factory (latest drivers)

What says the device manager about the audio device? Name and name of wave devices? Tested 3537 long time on both ´98SE and XP - np so far. What´s your card model? System specs?

System Specs

For my system it is.

Abit AI7
Intel P4 2.53
512 Meg Samsung DDR 400

Windows XP
Service Pack 2
EMU APS with KX 3538 drivers
Yamaha DSP Factory with 1.11 drivers

Funny thing is is that all the devices in device manager are OK, no X's at all.
I've tried all of the older KX drivers included 3537. All is well if the DSP Factory is disabled in Device Manager --> the KX mixer is run --> then the DSP Factory is reenabled. No problems after that.

As I said before if I use the EMU APS Windows XP drivers there in no init subsystem error at all.
