Remote control problem

Hello all.

My remote control stopped working suddenly as did the external control box on my Audigy 2 Platinum Ex. Actually the control box's inputs and outputs work but the control knobs don't. Earlier they worked just fine.

The only changes I've made to the system were installing Real Player and Media Player 10, but I'm not sure when exactly the remote stopped working. I'm fairly sure it worked after Real installation.

Also, in the device manager there is a device: Other Devices -> Multimedia Audio Controller (which claims it's drivers are not installed).

I've tried reinstalling kx-drivers and uninstalled Real Player but the problem persists...

My (relevant) configuration is:
kx v. 5.10.0.3537
Win XP
Atlon XP +1700
512 MB
Audigy 2 Platinum Ex

Best regards,

Ossi Lehtinen

Check if the power connection to your Audigy drive is fine...

I checked the connections and found them ok. With the Media Player there's a problem, because for some reason there was no restore point created when it was installed, so I can't uninstall it.

I'm slightly suspicious about this having something to do with the Media Player (although I have no idea what else it could be). I was wondering if someone had some experiences of a situation alike. Has some MP10 installed and A2 Platinum Ex's remote working?

I read about a somewhat similiar problem in another thread:
Remote control works only once ! ,
but they didn't seem to have any fixes to offer plus they claim this bug is w2k only.

Any help will be appreciated,
Ossi

Problem solved!

I notised that the kxmixer was eating a pretty big chunk of my CPU time and found a thread discussing this kind of a problem. The cause for this behaviour was a swiched off midi keyboard plugged to the sound card. The CPU load vanished once I turned the keyboard on, and after a reboot, the remote works as well. Great!

What I understood from a Eugenes post, this is not exactly a bug but more like an acknowledged issue with the IR/MIDI-keyb implementation. Anyways, there was no real reason for turning off the keyb so everything's just splendind

Be well,
Ossi
