Bug? in 3538
Aktuelles Skin: Aqua Skin

----Hardware / Software configuration---------------

GSIF buffer: 256 samples
OS version: [2 5 1 Service Pack 1; 2 5 1 Service Pack 1; 156 148]
bevor i installed the 3538 i made "reset settings" and "reset global settings". then install the new version, reboot and got also the errormessage like some user. i rewrote my settingfiles (replace the driverversion) and all works fine. but when i tried to "reset global settings" under 3538, xp is creating a bugreport.
AppName: kxmixer.exe AppVer: 5.10.0.3538 ModName: kxmixer.exe
ModVer: 5.10.0.3538 Offset: 0004e402
xp wrote, the bugreport will be in appcompat.txt, but with a texteditor you can´t see a bugreport.
i´ll try to read it out with hexedit or something and post it.

I'm not getting any sound when I use the prologica in my usual movie settings I've remade with these drivers.
I unloaded the reverb,chorus,p16v and surrounder in the dsp like I usually do and replaced surrrounder with the prologica and patched leads to the front and rear speaker outputs of epilog.
Ok I can hear my avi's but dvd player produces no sound.

I don`t know if it is really bug, but if front central works on 6.1 rear = front, and rear center doasn`t I assume it as a bug. I checked all configs on 6.1 setup and never had signal on rear center.
EDIT:
To make things clearer, I forgot what I`ve said in 3538 beta thread:
It occurs only when I`m listening to stereo sourced audio and I`m set on front = rear. Rear center DOES play, and it does it pretty well when listening to DVD`s or playing 3D sound games.
I`m only wondering why copying front --> rear leaves rear center silent :S

tracking the 3538 installation issue:
(for those who have 3538 installed):
- uninstall 3538, reboot
- install 3537, reboot
- install kXU (if you used to have it)
- restore your typical configuration
- install 3538
before you reboot, disable kxmixer start-up option (by running msconfig)
- reboot
now, open any debugging monitor (such as the one found here: http://kxdev.narod.ru)
now launch kxmixer: "kxmixer --startup"
write down the monitor log as well as the exact message shown by the error dialog box
(for those who haven't tried 3538 yet):
- save your current kX configuration in a file
- run monitor
- run the installer
- do NOT reboot
no, disable kxmixer start-up option (by running msconfig)
reboot, open the debugging monitor and start kxmixer (--startup)
/E

Hi. A very small bug: the 'close window' button in the DSP window doesn't want to show until you pass the mouse over it.

i don´t know what the AWEMAN32.DLL will do with kx, this was for the very old (ISA-bus) AWE32 or AWE64 from CT.
i dont have this on my pc, and i think, i don´t need it..
any idea, why xp is creating a bugreport when i reset global

the monitor works fine
all I need is its output when you try to install 3538 and experience the bug 'kxmixer fails to start properly after 3538 is installed on top of 3537 + KXU'
that's it

hello Eugene
i´ll try out what you wrote, but my daughter (1 jear in 10 days) need the most time at the moment. anyway, i had tried to "reset global settings" on my pc, called sampler. it is the second in the list , running under w2k with sp4 and dx9b. i got also an error and drwatson wrote a logfile.
i´ll not post this directly here, but you can find this
drwatson log here, and at the same time dbgview made also this logfile
i also tried to install 3538 on a pc with w98se (3534 was installed for 10k1, but i can´t get it to run.
after update to xp, everything was looking good, except the "reset global settings". i´ll also try to get out a logfile from this pc.
regards,

I have the same problem as geraldandreas: I cannot reset global settings.
The mixer will crash.
The 'offset' is different though: 004e3bc
The appcompat.txt file appears to be actually an xml file, but is deleted when you close the error message.
It contains only a list of dll files (which were running at the time the error occurred?).
I will try monitor, but currently I don't have time for it, so maybe later tonight or tomorrow.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've also found a small bug in the mixer:
I cannot set the analog recording gain level to certain values.
Whenever I set it to 5, it drops down to 4 after switching to another tab
or after closing and opening the mixer again.
When I set it to 6, it stays there.
When I set it to 2, it drops down one point to 1.
Same behaviour (always -1) for 8, 10, 11, 13, 14,...
When setting it to 14, it will drop to 13, but not to 12 again if you leave it untouched.

Monitor -- end --
Eugene, I followed your instructions. I did install UFX too.
When I started kxmixer --startup, nothing happened. No error message, nothing (just the first lines in monitor).
After one minute, I started kxmixer and everything seemed ok. No 100% cpu utilization this time.
Then, I tried to restore the global settings and kxmixer crashed (same error messages like in my earlier post).
This function worked with 3537, I tried that.
BTW: 3537 shows the same annoying analog recording gain level behaviour.

Obsolete plugins (kxl that have been registered and subseqently deleted) can't be unregistered. The warning that asks whether you want to unregister does appear, however the plugin remains in the effects directory.
You can remove them only from the registry.

I forgot: Dane is a little bit more buggy than in 3537 in terms of saving written code to .da or exporting to .cpp. It doesn't allow that every time (although the code is successfuly parsed).
This may be made in purpose so the dump code of the effects can't be copied. I hope that this isn't the case (it can be copied anyway), because I can't re-edit my own effects.

The k2lt presets say "firts" when they should be "first".

when you 'unregister' plugin this really does mean only 'unregister', not 'remove' or 'uninstall' -- it is up to the plugin author to provide better 'uninstall' procedures

so, when you reset global settings, you get the error.
and in most cases it happens in iKXMIDIParser::reset() function -- according to the drwatson log you provided. right?

when you 'unregister' plugin this really does mean only 'unregister', not 'remove' or 'uninstall' -- it is up to the plugin author to provide better 'uninstall' procedures
|
Eugene, I meant it stays in the "Add Effect/Plugin" menu. It doesn't get removed from the menu.

I think you mistook me for "geraldandreas", since it was him who provided the drwatson log. I only posted the monitor log. My drwatson doesn't seem to work, maybe I deactivated this function.
This is what happens:
When I click on reset global settings, the program asks if it should reset the registry entries, file assoc, soundfont/asio registry. I click on yes, the monitor log shows
kxmixer: resettings global settings...
kxmixer: deleting registry entries...
Then I'm asked if I want to reset the registry of dsp plugins and skins -> yes.
If I click 'no' it doesn't help either.
After this, the monitor writes out all lines between 'deleting registry entries' and (including)
23.617719 Win32 kX setup: shGetSpecialFolder ][ result: C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\xxxxxx\Startmenü\Programme
Then there appears the window telling me that kx mixer has crashed.
I close this window and monitor writes
37.244898 Default kx_wdm: [~CMiniportCtrlStream]
However, after restarting the mixer, the global settings seem to have been restored (splash screen, language, etc.)
Here's the monitor log again.

I will again try to reproduce the 'kxmixer crashes on first start after installation' (or 100% cpu load) bug, too, but currently I don't have much time so it may take a while (maybe on weekend). As it seems, the last time I tried the bug didn't occur.

in the 24/96 Router... the 2 outputs sources are swapped.
Ex: if i click the buttons to disable 10k2 output to i2s and/or spdif... it actually ends up disabling p16v output. and vice-versa

Sb0220
Hi,
Nice drivers you have here, thanks a lot. I'm planning to study the DSP programing, and since I'm on speaker design, I want to make some plug-ing in order to include phase of the 24LR xover, xover design, etc.
But I have some problem with my brand new Live 5.1, the rear output can't be enabled. I installed the creative drivers and the card is working, so the problem is not the hardware. I want to filter a 3way design, so the rear signal is really necessary to me. Would be nice to solve this in next version, where can I get the 3538, just to try it? Could be the SB0220 be included in next drivers version?
Thanks

there are known issues with the SB022x series. Please contact the http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/contact.php directly. Due to your experience with programming, you should be able to help the project get this card working.
