A constant I see among people having problem with the remote seems to be Win2000 (sp4?)
I'm using an Audigy Platinum Ex (SB0090) under Win2000 sp4, and the remote, as withothers, works only once after starting the kx mixer, while it works ok with Creative drivers.
Am I wrong? Are the people having problems with the remote are ALL using Windows 2000? Which service pack?

that's correct in my case.
i started with win2000 sp3 and i don't think it worked more than once then either. I never realised it was supposed to work as the remote says under construction.

can anybody experiencing the problem verify if it is OS-specific? [that is, test it under the same release of the kX Driver, but under a different OS? such as Win9X or XP?]

It would seem this problem is OS specific.
I have just tested under XP Home Edition SP1 and the remote control works fine whereas under my old Win2000 SP4 it works only once. A Win2000 SP4 problem it would seem.

I don't know if this problem is related to the remote control issue (that I'm also having problems with) but...
I have an Audigy 2 Platinum EX. And as you've probably allready figured out the remote isn't working for me either. If that wasn't enough none of the controls on the breakout box is working. Not the volume knob (including muting) nor the CMSS button. Nor does the auto mute when the headphones are plugged in work.
The inputs seem to work just fine though. The mic preamp volume of course also works.
The monitor does not show anything at all when pressing buttons on the remote or turning/pushing the controls on the BOB.
It would be great if this problem could be solved as these drivers looks very promising (I haven't used them for so long.)

Since the addtion of remote functionality, I've never had it cut out. Im using winXP with the latest sp2. Even before the service patch it never cut out. I've also tried it with the longhorn beta :S alpha builds and still all is go...

looks like a bug with win2k sp3-4? maybe its just a win2k bug period. yeah im still on 2k here, and the controller still only works once. pretty minor bug, but still annoying.

current status on this bug?
I have this problem too... (Win2Ksp4, kX 3537)
(EDIT: Issue also exists in version 3538h)
After initial load of mixer, the first press of the remote will work, thereafter it's ignored. Quit mixer fully, reload mixer, first remote press works again.
(EDIT: Although the further remote control presses doesn't function, it does cause the toast window to pop up with the headphone/speaker icons and a question mark (the identical toast which pops up if I plug or unplug my headphones, which incidentally only mute speakers when plugged in and do not unmute on removal...))

Ok people... I don't know if this is the case with you, but I had this problem earlier on and found a "solution", which was linked to my midi keyboard. As long as the keyboard is connected AND turned off, the remote does not work.
This issue has been covered in some earlier threads if I remember correct. Also, I believe Eugene commented on the issue and said it was in some sense inevitable problem concering some techical "things" (don't remember any details)...
Anyways, having the midi keyboard turned on makes the trouble go away.
Cheers,
Oswald

On my system the remote works first button press only, kx3537 + win2k/sp4 + SB0092.
Monitor Reader thread started
Monitor Remote reader thread started
9.522276 Default kx_wdm: [CMiniportCtrl::NewStream]
15.646079 Win32 RemoteIR/MMKeyboard message: start/menu
Monitor -- end --
After the first button press the remote has no effect and the monitor shows no change.
I will be very happy if it is possible to fix this, as I must continue to use w2k for a long time.

Thanks for your idea - too bad I don't have a midi kb... lol
Technical things? Doesn't sound very likely. The remote does work once for each restart of the mixer so it seems to be just a bug. Eugene (understandably, I guess) appears to work on bugs affecting musos more than others, but it is a bit frustrating that this bug has been open for so long.
Apparently moving to XP would solve the problem, but that's not really an option for me on this PC.
Maybe Eugene could start up a "cash for bugs" system and let us know how much it will cost to get it fixed?

Same problem here, remote only works once, but I must keep 2k because XP crashes on installation on my motherboard. I have tried without success 3537,3538l, 3539 with w2k patch. It can't be a hardware problem since remote was fully functional in another PC with XP, and in this one with Linux (Ubuntu-Studio in my case) and LIRC. I will try mods of Creative software from YouP-Pax. Sorry to say goodbye to kX
Update: Youp-Pax's A4 patched drivers & apps install well but I still can't use the remote because other problems appear : Entertainment Center is too hungry and asks for a recent graphics card. I will have to hack the 2U rackmount cast (full with cards and risers), add a recent PCI graphics card, or throw a new motherboard/CPU/RAM (BTW hard to find MBs without crappy onboard audio these days, maybe high-end server MBs).

Just tested in WinXP, kX Version: 5, 10, 00, 3538 - debug Compiled: Jan 22 2007 03:58:47 - works as expected...V3538M If I am not mistaken.
Test circumstance....
Record MIDI IN from kX Control INPUT port.... MIDI sysex data records as expected, multiple times, multiple keys at a time.

Sorry for kX on w2k. I downloaded the original Audigy + Drive CD and installed RemoteCenter which is perfect for my needs and does not require a recent graphics card. But their PlayCenter is crappy and does not need to be installed to play mp3s. RemoteCenter can play them alone, control Winamp, change volume, change EAX settings, all with OSD. If someone has a similar problem and can't use kX and needs RemoteCenter I can upload it somewhere.
Update: remote works a bit longer but stops responding sooner or later, then RemoteCenter has to be restarted. So this may not really be KX's fault but poor testing of comunication between hardware and software in W2K (the hardware must not be guilty, it is only an infrared MIDI IN interface).
