same problem. i reinstalled system (xp+sp2), switched off gameport. bleep..reinstalled sys again, then installed kxdrivers as first. bleep isn't so often but still.. in most case when i'm fast forwarding in winamp. sometimes also there's no ANY signal (bleep or anything).. just silence, also in mx6 nothing on vu meter. but after clicks'on'play sound returns. btw on nforce2 pci latency should be set higher than default? where can i set that? oh i can record that bleep.. i thought it's not possible.. http://www.speedyshare.com/610486931.html here it is.. you can hear that sound is changing.. from 10 second it's only play clickin to return of sound.. oke, third edit: i founded somewhere in this thread some settings.. http://img488.imageshack.us/img488/3329/36406905ml9.jpg from 2 hours no bleep, also on fast forwarding in winamp (when it was most often). probably problem solved.. another edit: not true anymore after 4hours of xp session. btw i forgot i have second system on other disk.. no bleeps there. but i don't remember how drivers were installed there.. Yep, this is exactly the bleeping&silence you've recorded.
Now I'm playing with kX on Win Server 2003 SE SP2 and the bleepz _never_ occured. Same on Fedora Linux (using alsa), my 2nd system. Btw, i'm also using S2kCtl (an AMD CPU software cooler). http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/6571/s2kctl1nh9.png My kX buffer and driver compatibility setting are default - I doubt if changing them might solve the problem. I used 3538m with a Audigy2ZS for a long time and the problem never occurred. Recently I added a CT4760 and a LiveDriveII and changed to 3539 at about the same time. That's when the problem firsted showed.
Downgrading to 3538m didn't help and I did a fresh windows install today with 3538m only, but it's still there. I have the slight impression (not objective) that the problem occurs more often after a HD swap a few days ago. frequent play/pause cycling doesn't help. sometimes the beep continues when the music is paused or stopped, sometimes it stops too. however, it only occurs if winamp is running. System: Epox 8RDA3+ (nForce2U) SB0350 CT4760+LDII Windows XP SP2 3538m Winamp 5.5 |

i found a tool online called pci latency timer that allowed me to change the latency of all my devices because my bios did not have a latency option. Most of them were on 64 while the audigy 2 zs was at 00. I changed them all to 32 and the audigy to 64, but I am still getting the issue. any input?
EDIT: I increased the size of all the buffers in the kx drivers and it seems to help some. It went from beeping once every 3-4 songs to now every 15-20 songs. My solution is either to restart the song several times or even just hold down the fastforward button in winamp. I'll keep tweaking the latencies in the meantime. I'm using the Audigy 2 ZS which is PCMCIA, so I set the PCMCIA bus and the sound card BOTH to 128, and everything else to 32. I'll try more variations. I can't go back to the stock creative drivers because I'm using this laptop in my car and the customizability of the EQ is just sooo much better with kx. I can't even listen with the crappy creative drivers anymore. Last edited by hari-bhari; Nov 15, 2007 at 07:41 PM. |

Re: constant beeping noise instead of audio playback
The only fix for this I've found is to log in to WoW and place my character in a really crowded area(major city) and fiddle aroud with the in-game audio settings.

Re: constant beeping noise instead of audio playback
this bug drove me nuts for a long time, until...
I changed the Windows setting : Multimedia properties / Audio / Sound playback / Advanced / Perfomance / Audio playback / Hardware acceleration if i put it to basic, I don't get the problem at all anymore. It may have side effects but i didn't experience any. (In fact, I think it also fixed the wicked sound positionning in Crysis, which may be the reason I tried this in the first place) my card : SB0090 10k2 [9480] good luck. Re: constant beeping noise instead of audio playback
Hi dddd,Thanks for your suggestion!
I encoutered the same problem on my platform(nf2, athlon 1800+, 1.256G RAM). Your suggestion made effects. But set /Audio playback/Hardware acceleration to basic , ASIO can not be used. And that is my priority. I tried to change ASIO channel to 2+2 (input+output) instead of 8+8 and it is helpful. So far so good. Need more verification. But 2+2 not enough for me , 4+4 maybe best but no such configration...... |
