I don't have IRQ shared with... but let's assume this is ATI-related for now... Let's try to change ATI to something other. I don't have other videocard at the moment, may be someone has?

The word "Arse" springs to mind, I just got the beep :/
VMWare always seems to be able to bring it on somehow, maybe linked to the cpuload? -Mint |

I must add to this that since I switched to nforce3 I never got that beeping noise again (ocasional anyway).
It might be related with APIC as well, when I had a Nforce2 system, it happened in the installation with APIC but never happened in the installation without APIC. |

problem solved
Quote:
Hi all, I have experienced this beeping problem two days ago for the first time (using kx drivers for about one year). After reading this forum, I tried Smiehu recommendation and it works for me! PCI Delay Transaction - enabled PCI Latency Timer - 96 Fast Command - ultra (I had always this setting) Using this settings, I was not able to replicate the problem again. My method is - load a lot of mp3 into Winamp playlist, play the first one and skip repeatedly to the next song (no matter how fast). With the original BIOS settings beeping (or no sound) was heard after skipping for example 30 songs (I did not count it) and dissapeared after next 30 skipping. With the above mentioned BIOS settings, I did not register the problem after more than 300 skipping. Of course, I don't know if this solves the "root cause" of the problem. :-) |

KX Console to the rescue!
as a slightly faster way of getting rid of the beep ive now discovered the KX console and "rv"
This resets the Hardware Voices and magically the beep vanishes the next time you skip etc! Better than nothing I suppose. -Mint |

Greetings from Croatia
After BIOS features testing, on my nForce2 AN7 motherboard, I found what cause beeping sound. http://www.driverheaven.net/images/s...big%20grin.gif I change "APIC mode - MPS Version Ctrl For OS" from "1.4" to "1.1" and i never have beep sound again in 8 months I hope that I help somebody. |

I wrote some time ago saying It was Emule fault. Now I can recreate problem very fast. Just read many data from the hard disk. Running antivirus and scanning whole drive is very fast way to get these beeps. Hash checking, file reading and writing. Everything that includes disk usage. some BIOS settings affects the speed of this. I'm playing with IDE Prefetch etc (100% disk boost for me). I haven't tried to change APIC to 1.1. AFAIR this made my windows unable to boot. Also I suspect this soundcard + kxproject gives me problems burning discs. Changing burners with no success, playing with many bios settings.. finally I got system without sound driver or with disabled kxproject and it burnt disc without changing data (something related to the system bus?). I'm not sure of this but if this is the reason, I'll inform you. Too bad kxproject is not being developed anymore

Is there any news on this subject? I'm having this problem ALOT lately. Turning off HT didn't help. I think I remember not having this problem so much with older drivers, is this possible? What about installing the newer 3538i/j drivers, do they have any improvement on this subject? I've got 3537 installed at the moment (I removed everything from creative using windows/drivercleaner).
I still hope there will eventually be a solution

I've noticed that constant beeping went away (so far) when I turned off Audigy's Game Port in Device Manager.
Interesting that not only playback but also recording is affected by this "beeping" bug. For ex. trying to record from line-in when beeping occurs - there is no sound in the output files, even no beeps just silence. IMO this issue is not related to the graphic card, because I switched from nVidia to ATI and nothing changed in this matter. ========================= Creative Audigy (SB0230) with FireWire and Game Port, not sharing IRQ kX driver 5, 10, 00, 3538 - debug Compiled: Jul 24 2006 02:44:27 Windows XP SP2 nVIDIA nForce2 Ultra 400 1024 MB of RAM (PC3200 DDR SDRAM dual-channel) AMD Sempron, 2000 MHz (12 x 167) 2800+ ===edit=== Annoying bleepin' returned! Well I am getting a loud beep as well but I kinda have pin pointed it to when I use Sonar 6 and go into record mode with my mic, I get the beep if I try to turn off record mode.
I dont think its a ATI issue cause im using a nVidia Card. I dont have this issue with WMD either just ASIO, So I figure its from some loop feedback thing or echo. I have tried every thing to get rid of the beep and what I have to do is either leave on the record light for that track or make a new track leave on record and mute it. that seems to work so far. I'm using Audigy 2 ZS Notebook edition and I've been blessedm just like most of us, with the holy beeping noise. As it occurs twice every few minutes I spent my time the last two times watching the analyzer, trying to figure it out (and specifically for the lack of anything better to watch)..
So anyway, any of you guys having had a look at it ? I'm noticing it constantly changing the position of the red bars (which should be the active "voices" I guess). Albeit confusing (it picks up a new set of voices everytime u change a song for example or start any sound app.), it seems to be changing the voices/bars much more often when the beeping occurs - dunno if this would be of any use, but might be a clue. I am also using Aura - a russian "ambience generator" which apparently uses some more of those "voices"/channels/bars/whatever. Also, why there are for example more red dots/small bars on the upper row of the analyzer is beyond me. Maybe if an application or the driver sticks to a particular voice configuration - if it doesn't change randomly every now and then there will be less or no beep.. Just one last observation from just about now - the Aura thing is apparently failing right now because i don't hear it, but the media player still sounds ok.. Note: aura has never failed on my onboard sound card.. I picked another driver for the Aura and then got back to the same and it got back in tune, taking up as much voices as it needs and furiously changing them again (it was stuck on two when it failed). I don't know, maybe it tries to use voices that are already busy or something.. Well that's from be so far... Greetz |

possible temporary fix?
Hi, I have been using kx drivers for the past 4 years with my dekstop system and never had any problems,
yesterday I installed 3538m to my notebook which has audigy 2zs nb and I had the same problem with the constant beeping noise after some time when changing tracks in foobar/musiccube. So I began to mess around with the driver settings, driver compatibility ones in particular. suddenly I can't produce the beeping noise anymore, also when watching analyzer I noticed the small squares now seem to move almost after every time I change the track, they seem to follow the volume bars that also change position on a track change, before I messed with the settings the small squares sometimes stayed in one position for very long time. The settings in the driver compatibility screen are: boxes 2,3,5,8,9,12,13 from the top are checked and the others are empty. Hope this helps someone else, My laptop system is Acer 5021wlmi,turion ml-28 1.6ghz, 1024mb ddr,100gb hd, ati x700, audigy 2zs nb. |

it's a bit strange..
from august 2005 to october 2006 i had my sys based on biostar m7vit (kt400a) with kx3537.. never had any problems with beep.. in october i changed mobo to asus a7n8x, for about two weeks i had problems with asio on kX (asio was very unstable) but i installed sys with acpi, disabled apic and soundstorm in bios.. i upgraded kX to 3538l.. no problems. i added (to 40gb seagate) also second disk (250gb samsung) wchich is my system disk now.. some weeks ago i upgraded kX to 3538M (i was testing new version for my sis).. and. when sys was running more than 3hrs constant bleep when i changed mp3 in winamp.. almost everytime so i downgraded to 3538l but still these bleep.. i didn't know that bug is so popular.. and it's only related to winamp (2.92, directsound as output).. that bug dosen't occur IN ASIO but when i exit ASIO host bleep backs in about 30mins, so strange.. some days ago i read that thread and: i just disconnected second disk (40gb) and i changed place of one of my ram banks on mobo, that dualchannel isn't enable anymore.. and now, something about 7hours of one session in winxp.. and no bleep. i have duron 1800mhz 512mb ram (256+256, working on 266mhz ddr) asus a7n8x realtek rtl8139 + network controller integrated from nforce2 geforce 4mx440 samsung 250gb + seagate barracuda 40gb psu fortron fsp350 60mdn now kX 3538L with proFX (from http://members.home.nl/nahutec/ProFx/profx3x.htm) and sb0220 seems that second disk (on same ide channel, cause i have dvdrw on second chan) is reason of bleep? btw that constantly clicking play for solve problem works at my sys.. |

just found out. If you have this problem with vista. goto device manager and uninstall the game port. This seems to be the source of the problem.

HI:
I used to have this issue with 2 different Windows XP installation with 2 different motherboards(ASUS A7V333 and K7N2 Delta2 PLatinum). PLaying a midi file didn't work for me so i had to repeatedly play tracks until the beep noise was gone. I tried some settings at the bios setup, but no luck. Some times, when i logged on my session, the system locked up, and if i played with the master volume for a while, the system crashed with a message related to KX (think it was kx.sys). The combination of these issues made me think that wasn't just KX fault. So i started to think about my RAM. I have 2 Kingston DDR333 256MB each, and they have the same rates, but different models, so they're not exactly twins. Anyway, i used to have 'em working in dual channel, but when i could stand no more these problems i tryed using the RAMs in single channel. After that i noticed some improvement in the "speed" of my system, but the beeping noise appeared again, so i switched the ram modules to the other's slot and after that i've never heard that noise again (and my login problem also went off). But i keep praying for it to never come back. Hope this helps. (and also that you can understand me, 'cause i speak spanish) |

I changed my buffer settings to this:
http://img238.imageshack.us/img238/6481/buforymq2.jpg and i didn't get the beeping sound since then. It may just be coincidence, but it's worth trying. |

Hi all i've been having this problem since installing the KX drivers. First in Vista and then in XP (after I ditched Vista). My mother board has a via chipset as many others have.
The latest occurence of this problem was about an hour ago when I tried to play UFO ET so I quit the game and rebooted the pc. After rebooting I played some mp3s and the problem quickly returned, I didn't feel like rebooting again so I changed the ouput for the driver to output 6/7 in the windows audio control panel and until now the problem hasn't returned. I don't expect this solves the problem but it's quicker than rebooting the pc.

a very weird solution
I think im using the weirdest temporary solution. read....
I had this problem for a loooong time... didnt know it was common. This is what i experienced untill now: - Sometimes but very very rarely... the problem goes away without a cause... it just goes away. - The problem sometimes used to go away by playing "certain" midifiles.. but not lately - The problem ALWAYS goes away by starting a game called "trackmania nations"... when the engine of the car (ingame) starts the high beep somehow tries to modulate down to the octave and note of the engine --> when that happens (and it aways does) the sound is ok within 3 to max 8 seconds. The beep comes back when a new start signal is heard (pistol shot when starting a race) But the problem again lasts only 3 to max 8 seconds as the beep modulates back to its original note. BEFORE the sound is modulated down i sometimes hear the engine and all other gamesounds 5 octaves higher then it should be. Ok.. here's what i think know: I THINK that the problem is caused when samplerates are changed quickly after eachother I THINK the problem goes away when primitive sounds (like a saw loop, midi string or car engine like in Trackmania nations) are played. I THINK the problem is also buffer (latency) related because when it occurs.. and you solve it temporary.. it comes back very fast. config: ------------------------------ msi k700vt sblive! 5.1 ati x800 xt pe (agp) 3com pci network adapter 2 hd's 2 dimms of 512 mb ddr2 ------------------------------ |
