Re: SB 5200 5.1 noise plob

To start with, I would suggest trying version 3550:
3550 released - x86 and x64

Re: SB 5200 5.1 noise plob

Sounds more like a hardware issue as he's using XP and 3541 works perfect on my system with XP. I believe the newer versions were only bug fixes for Vista and Win 7.

I'd try removing the card, boot Windows once, shut it off and replace the card in another slot if possibe. I'm just guessing here, but try Russ's suggestion also and report your results here.

3350 also fixes the greater then 2 GB RAM issue, which is less likely to be a problem on XP, but is still possible. The OP did not mention how much RAM he had, but I figured he might as well use the latest version, and then it is not an issue.

Re: SB 5200 5.1 noise plob

THAT IS WEIRD.Ok folks this is the new scenario .Becouse I m the usualy wee spoty and lazy teen I have done nothing of the suggestions and I carried on with the installation of new softwares after a format so I install a tool that cleaned the pc from old register keys and the rest, I think I use PowerTool Lite and what next?..The sound is back and kicking. That is nice you can think, not quite so,infact as I load the the KX Audio Driver>KX Mixer from the start menu all sound comes back as it was at the beginning.Well Its not too bad, better than before at least I can listen to music properly,But as you guess I would like very much be on the captain seat and no be able to run the boat as I like makes me uneasy.Have You Beatyfull People of this Galatic WebWorld know anything more strange of that?Having a software that if you use it do not work but still do his job if you do not use it?
Ok is 1.37 here in town, time to relax with a cup of tea.
Any suggestions folks? It will be much appreciated.Bye

Sorry, but some of your posts are a little hard to follow (and you say that you have not tried any of the suggestions).

Are you saying that you formatted your hard drive, reinstalled Windows and kX, and still had problems? If you reinstalled everything, why did you need to use a tool to clean the registry (such tools can sometimes cause problems)? If you did reformat/reinstall, did you install kX first (after Windows of course, but before other software) to see if it worked at that point?

Did you try re-seating your card, or moving it to another PCI slot?

What does the noise sound like?
What type of speaker system do you have connected to the sound card?
What model number does kxmixer show for your card?
