Bugs in latest three versions, 43, 44 and 44a
Vista Ultimate Audigy 2 Device: 41102 Subsys: 10021102 ChipRev: 4 VISTA CONTROL PANEL WEIRDNESS Devices listed are SPDIF/AC3 Output (PERFECT STEREO QUALITY) _KX_WAVEOUT89_NAME (Is this name a bug?) Master Mixer (Crackling sounds for the past 3 drivers with this device) Wave Out 4/5 Wave Out 6/7 Wave Out HQ (This is set as default device after install but programs detecting default sound driver as _KX_WAVEOUT89_NAME and using that, is this a bug?) + (when applications are forced to use this device, they report bad driver / or something goes wrong, also vista control panel says cannot play test tone.) FEATURE REQUEST My pc audio goals are 5.1 output from movies, and for stereo to be doubled to my rear speakers, all without having to change audio devices or worry about anything. Is it possible in Wave out HQ mode to detect the output format from software and convert up to whatever is chosen in surrounder. I find it a pain to have to choose diff audio say media player classic depending on whether the output is a 5.1 or stereo dvd. Last edited by King_Tweaker; Jul 30, 2008 at 04:08 PM. |

Hmm, I see this too (in Windows (XP) Mixer, under "Other")... It seems that the WinMM names were changed, but there is still some remnants of the old names there. i.e. With kX Wave 0/1 selected: SPDIF/AC3 Output is listed under "Other" With kX Wave 2/3 selected: Wave Out 4/5 is listed under "Other" With kX Wave 4/5 selected: Wave Out 6/7 is listed under "Other" With kX Wave 6/7 selected: _KX_WAVEOUT89_NAME is listed under "Other" Hmm, I wonder if this is just left over stuff in the registry that didn't get removed with previous versions. i.e. I see this in the registry. I'm going to try deleting the above, and reinstall 3544a and see if it makes a difference... ...The above didn't make a difference. Some of the extra stuff was removed (i.e. registry now shows this), but there are still references to the old WinMM names, and Windows Mixer still shows same info... In any case, all of the Wave Outs work correctly for me (i.e. are routed to the correct FxBus, etc). Last edited by Russ; Jul 30, 2008 at 07:27 PM. |

Ahh right excellent, I do remember it working in xp. There are workarounds like using ac3filter in programs but stereo games obv only use 2 speakers.
Pity there are these problems with wave out hq .

Same as 3543; don't get any sound, just random noises.
Or +6 of unpleasant static. Can do test sounds for all but WaveOutHQ, which fails. 10k2 - Audigy2 ZS, Vista SP1. |

24/48 ASIO doesnt work for me under 3544 and 3544a. All I get is noise in every sync-mode.
I use FXBusX now. Audigy2 ZS - WinXPpro 32bit - AMD Athlon64 x2 5200+ - 2GB RAM |

This is probably not a 3544a bug and not a surprise to the developers but I will report it here in hopes that it will get worked out if Lex Nahumury has the time to update ProFX for the latest version.
ProFXSRC does not work correctly for FXBus outs but other ProFX functions like MX6 ADC etc. seem to work fine. I substituted FXBusX for the SRC functions and all is good now. Last edited by Doug W; Aug 3, 2008 at 10:14 PM. |

Maybe, although I do not really remember it quite like this (I remember stereo busses would not let you select it's counterpart from the list, but I had thought that all other busses were available for selection (i.e. So for example: I would expect Wave to have 14 possibles instead of 13)). I do not know, I did not use it all that often (and I really only ever modified the Synth stuff) so maybe I just didn't notice.

"Vista32 + >2 Gb RAM problem" has been fixed in previous 3543 (all worked except ASIO), but this problem appears again in this new 3544 version - no sound at all until decreasing RAM to </= 2 Gb.

kX does list that as a model number (i.e. SB-2005?), the question mark probably indicates that the actual model number is not known as of yet. In any case, it does appear to be some kind of Audigy 2 ZS (maybe a new version or an OEM version or something).
Someone else mentioned a similar issue with a model that looks like what kX lists as an SB-2004? (also appears to be some kind of Audigy 2 ZS), so maybe there is something common with those two models... Last edited by Russ; Aug 5, 2008 at 03:10 PM. Reason: typo |

I have the same problem. I have an Audigy 2 ZS with model SB0350 written on the card and on the sticker. I tried installing versions 3544a down to 3542 to no success. I was only able to successfully use the 3541 version.
According to Device Manager, this is the "Device Instance ID" of my card: PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0004&SUBSYS_20041102&REV_04\4&32E D1635&0&2840 In the kx.inf of 3544a, these are the only choices: %KX_EMU10KX.DeviceDesc90%=KX_EMU10KX, PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0004&SUBSYS_20011102&REV_04 %KX_EMU10KX.DeviceDesc91%=KX_EMU10KX, PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0004&SUBSYS_20021102&REV_04 %KX_EMU10KX.DeviceDesc92%=KX_EMU10KX, PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0004&SUBSYS_20031102&REV_04 %KX_EMU10KX.DeviceDesc95%=KX_EMU10KX, PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0004&SUBSYS_20041102 %KX_EMU10KX.DeviceDesc96%=KX_EMU10KX, PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0004&SUBSYS_20051102 And here is the description of each ID in the same file: ; 10k2-based cards ("Audigy2 ZS", "Audigy4 PRO") KX_EMU10KX.DeviceDesc90="kX 10k2 Audio ("3544") - Model SB0360" KX_EMU10KX.DeviceDesc91="kX 10k2 Audio ("3544") - Model SB0350" KX_EMU10KX.DeviceDesc92="kX 10k2 Audio ("3544") - Model SB0352" KX_EMU10KX.DeviceDesc93="kX 10k2 Audio ("3544") - Model SB0380" KX_EMU10KX.DeviceDesc94="kX 10k2 Audio ("3544") - Model SB0350b" KX_EMU10KX.DeviceDesc95="kX 10k2 Audio ("3544") - Model SB-2004?" KX_EMU10KX.DeviceDesc96="kX 10k2 Audio ("3544") - Model SB-2005?" As you can see, my card's DEVICE INSTANCE ID was nowhere to be found. The installer uses the "KX_EMU10KX.DeviceDesc95="kX 10k2 Audio ("3544") - Model SB-2004?". Instead of the "KX_EMU10KX.DeviceDesc91="kX 10k2 Audio ("3544") - Model SB0350" which is my card. I hope you guys can fix this. By the way, I also edited the kx.inf and replaced the %KX_EMU10KX.DeviceDesc91%=KX_EMU10KX, PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0004&SUBSYS_20021102&REV_04 with this one: %KX_EMU10KX.DeviceDesc91%=KX_EMU10KX, PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0004&SUBSYS_20041102&REV_04 Then I forced update the driver in the device manager. It showed the SB0350 choice and I was able to choose & install it. Unforturnately after the restart, it still showed the problem of not being able to initialize the audio upon executing kxmixer. Thank you for your hard work!! |

@cevar_blackwing
Your model looks like it is probably the SB-2004?. The inf file just appears to be missing the REV4... That is the one you would probably want to edit, instead of the SB0350 one. In any case, I am not sure that it is gonna help with the error. |

Well according to the label on the PCB it is also a SB0350. But maybe it is a newer version/revision. Correct me if if wrong, but isn't the words "SUBSYS_20041102" mean that it was manufacture in November 2, 2004? And it is a revision 4. Just a guess.
And by default, the installer chooses the "SB-2004?" driver for my card. It installs the driver without fail, but unfortunately it causes a problem with the initialization of audio during startup when it is trying to run kxmixer. I hope you guys can figure what the problem is. I am using the 3541 driver right now. But I'm thinking of going back to 3537 since it is the only driver where my TV Tuner can properly control the Line In (volume & mute). All the other driver versions after 3537 would not allow me to control the volume, resulting to me opening the kxmixer and manually changing the line in volume level. Hope to hear from you guys! |

OK. I will find a way to determine the real model. I already tried using the generic kx drivers in 3544. Just like the SB-2004? version, it installed without fail. But the problem is the kxmixer during startup it fails to initialize the audio. Thanks for the plugin, it worked and now I can use my TV remote to adjust the volume.
By the way, is there a way to adjust the side speakers for 7.1 in analog output? |

There appears to be some issues regarding skinning kSlider for plugins:
The readme in fx_skin states that you should set the bitmaps before creating the slider, but this does not seem to be correct. It only seems to work if you set the bitmaps after creating the slider. It seems that kX may use the thumb bitmap (rect size info) for drawing, but not for hit testing? See the following thread for more info: kSlider.set_buttons - how to use it? I found another problem, I don't know if this will also appear in the 3544a version since I'm using 3541 right now.
My peak meter shows an average of -104db on both left and right. The weird thing is, there is no audible sound on all of my speakers. I cleared and re-initialize the DSP but the problem is still there. I decided to find out what is causing it. I directly connected peak to xrouting and found out that nw,ne,sw,se are all producing the noise. I then connected it to each FXBus and all bus don't report any noise. So, I connected it to prolog, p16v, FXMix2 and Stereo Chorus, all of them did not produce any noise on the peak meter. But when I connected it to Reverb Lite, all 4 outputs have noise in it. The funny thing is the FXMix2 which is its source doesn't have any noise. This makes me believe that Reverb Lite has some bug in it. If you guys have any workaround/settings, please tell me. And since I'm a noob, can anyone tell me what following items in kxmixer mean: Master Page 1)P16V Recording Source? 2)Toggle SPDIF Bypass Mode? 3)Toggle SPDIF-IN AC-3 Decode Mode? 4)Toggle AC-3 Passthru Mode? 5)SPDIF Frequency? 6)Direct SPDIF Recording? Ins n Outs Page 7)Generic SPDIF Out 8)10k2 I2s 2 9)ZVideo I2S In 10)AC97 In 2 11)Coaxial/Optical SPDIF In Recording Page 12)ZVideo I2S Rec Level 13)AC97 In 2 Rec Level 14)Coaxial/Optical SPDIF Rec Level AC97 Page 15)AC97<->I2S Routing Mode 16)What is soundfont for? 17)What is kx Automation for? 18)In xrouting what is top_In for? 19)In prolog what is I2S/SPDIF C Left/Right for? 20)In prolog what is Coaxial/Optical Left/Right for? 21)In prolog what is AC97 In 2 Left/Right for? 22)In epilog what is Generic SPDIF Left/Right for? 23)In epilog what is Digital Center/SPDIF1 Left, Digital SubWoofer/SPDIF1 Right for? 24)In epilog what is I2S 2 Left/Right for? Thank you very much! Sorry for asking a lot. Last edited by cevar_blackwing; Aug 9, 2008 at 04:30 AM. |

Reverb and Delay (with high feedback) effects are known to produce relatively large amount of noise (on K1/K2 DSPs). This is a result of a hardware compromise/limitation.
