[3537] soundfont makes audio fail
I only saw one post that sounded like this, and there were no replies.
When I play my synthesizer using a soundfont with any audio (wave or soft synth), after less than a minute the audio stops. Note that the synthesizer keeps playing, and the software thinks that it's still playing the audio (the meters on my PC are still moving). The only sound I hear is the synth.
If I close the music software and start it again, or even just close my project and reopen it, it starts to work again for a little while. There are no error messages or any indication of failure other than hearing the audio stop.
I'm using Cakewalk Music Creator 2, Windows 98SE, kX driver 3537 (which is supposedly the latest). It's a Pentium III 550 MHz. I forget how much RAM I have, but maybe 128M. The sound card is the Sound Blaster Live 5.1.
I have been very careful to make sure that there are no shared IRQs anywhere in the computer.
Note that I also have an AWE 64 in the same box. If I switch to using its synthesizer with the same soundfont (and continue using the Live 5.1 for audio), it plays fine without stopping. I only have the AWE 64 in there in case I'm playing some old computer game that needs it. I'd rather not use it because it doesn't have much memory on it.
Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome. I feel like I've wasted too much time fussing with the computer and not enough time making music.
