Serious bug, driver hung
K, now a more serious bug even... After I was checked something else (see this thread: Hi ya all - A very simple (dumb?) question ), and tried to run a normal audio program (a flash movie in this case, but winamp hung too when pressing play) the application hung, and hung bad...
Trying to kill it through the taskmanager didn't work, if I didn't knew any better, and this was linux, I'd say it hung in kernel space... (no userspace control over processes, not killable)
The mixer hung too when trying to reset all settings...
all still a clean win2000 (2 days old, sp3, dx9, and 3530) on a sb0060...
I'm seriously considering going back to 3529... (but that'll cost me the surrounder, wich I actually like alot :-)
oh, ps, had to reboot to get back application control, after that, it was all ok... but I aint gonna try reason and traktor again on 3530 :-)

in general, kernel-level driver cannot cause such lock-ups
it seems that your windows directx subsystem has become unstable,
which was unnecessarily caused by the driver
(that's why the mixer locked too)
moreover, it might have happened due to a bug in a flash player
if you manage to reproduce the problem (and, possible, to reproduce it w/o running the flash movie) - let us know.

Well, I can reproduce it very simply... (rebooted more then 10 times now :-( )
When running any 2 audio programs wich output to ASIO, it hangs (reason/traktor, cubase/vsampler, and even the OpenAsio development sdk test Asio host together with reason)
I didnt have had any hungs when not using ASIO I think, but not 100% sure of that...
After the programs itself hang, evry audio outputting application hangs too... (winamp directsound, even explorer with the tick sounds of changing folders and stuff)
I did install 3529 again, to see if it fixes anything (uninstalled 3530 with uninstall driver option, and then uninstall package option)
The DirectX I'm using is 9.0, I'll try to reinstall the whole system again in a few hours, and go back to 8.1a, to see if that fixes things... but, I do have to note, that on my old install (the one before I did my spring clean) I also had DX 9.0 (installed over 8.1a) with 3530 (installed after uninstalling 3529)
anyways, gotta go to the laundrette first :-)
oh, and ps... this was a completely clean system, W2k, then Sp3, then directX, then kX and Detenator, and after that, reason, cubase, etc...

k, took a bit longer then expected :-)
anyways, I reinstalled, but now with DX 8.1... with 3530, no, or very minor change, 3531 the same, 3529, bit better, I don't have to hard reset to get rid of the hung applications, but the problem never goes away...
I've also found the easiest way of reproducing this...
running 2 ASIO in/out (or in & out) programs together... (sometimes it goes well, but, specially with reason, it breaks...)
this might be related:
Running SpinAudio, after that, starting DSound's RTplayer, I get an error
Error creating input buffer #0: error = -2147024809 [size=4096]
GetLastError()=2
E_INVALIDARG: Too big latency and too many channels -- resetting latency...
Retry?
(it seems to related, cause when playing with cubase out, then through spinaudio, wich does goes well, and then starting RTPlayer, applications start to hang)
Anyways... rest of info is known i think, clean win2k, SP3, Directx 8.1
Drivers: nothing special... scsi, nvidia, intel chipset, it all worked before with same drivers...
it might be btw, that in 3528 it was working (and i was mistaking 28 for 29) but my mind aint too well... (it did work before btw, my normal "asio" chain is/was reason, playing together with traktor, going through RTplayer and maybe spinaudio, then using samplitude for recording)
One last thing, I'm getting another live revision this weekend to try it on (swapping sb0060 for a CT4something to get all my asio recordings rite)
