A minor issue:

Bundled 'FxRouter' plugin does not work (gives 'debug assertion failed' error when opening tweak window).

Hi all,
i've been using kx3538l and now i'm using kx3538m under ms vista.
There were and are few bugz, first of all SPEAKER TEST in KX returns "Failed to create sound".
Second when i go to my CONTROL PANEL->SOUND then select my sound card "Speakers" and click on "configure" new window opens called "Speaker setup", then i select "5.1 Surround" from the list and click "Test", there is an error "Failed to play test tone", when i click "OK" and "Next", "Next" and "Finish" there is error "Format not supported by the device". In KX "Surrounder" when i choose 5.1 speaker mode winamp plays on all 5 speakers but i think games and apps doesn't play "full" 5.1, only stereo "changed" to 5.1.
Third bug is somewhere over directsound and driver not compatible with openal (i think), music plays fine through "waveout" but through "directsound" the music is "choppy".

as usual, I'm happy to see new version of kx !

3538m acts as 3538l on my system (see my 3538l report : http://www.driverheaven.net/showpost.php?p=967425&postcount=10).
I still have better Asio performance with 3538h : by far
with the same cubase project, I can achieve following latency :
2.18ms (3538h) vs 11.61ms (3538l or 3538m). [same results at 48khz]

This is done with proper uninstall, reboot, install, reboot (as recommended) and different KxSync modes....
Since just a few of us noticed performance drop with 3538l, I suppose it is hardware combination related.
It's not that important : 3538h is really reliable

I couldn't install this version NO WAY. I've tried several different Windows variants (restored from different Ghost images): WinXP Sep2006, Windows for Legacy PCs and latest WinXP Jan2007.

The main problem of this version for me is 100% halt on boot or on driver initialisation. This happens only with 3538L, coz' previous version is already installed on WinXP SP2 Sep2006 image, and this OS boots and works fine.

Eugene, or other russian speaking ones can PM me for details for bugfixing.

P.S. I am using Audigy ZS notebook

Same Problem with my ZS NB..

The Whole System freezes when the Driver initializes the card.

If I take the card out the System continues... If I put it in (or booting with inerted card) everything freezes again...

- the "X" button on DSP-window is still missing when using SMALL DSP window option (when hovering over its plays it appears again)
- if "show window content while dragging" is disabled - right-clicking menu on DSP window appears downright from mouse pointer.

Not sure if this is a bug, but is AC-3 decoding supposed to work with CD_SPDIF In?

I thought it was not supported, but I just noticed in the release notes (I guess it was added in 3538j):
In any case, it does not seem to work. I see the AC-3 Spdif->Decode popup from kX, but nothing from any FxBus.

Is there any special requirements, or setup needed?

I think you should update the ProFX plugins,
and bundle the Noise Sharpening & MoreBass plugins.

Win98 support was dropped a few versions ago - I dont know what version last supported win98 tho... sorry.

I have 32-bit Vista RTM an Audigy 4 (SB0610 10k2). I uninstalled my old creative driver and all creative sotware (with uninstaller and drivercleaner pro) before I installed this Kx driver. I use Kx driver at the first time but I like it. My speakers reborned... But I have some bug:
In Vista "playback devices" I set 5.1 speakers and 24-bit 48000Hz playback (this was the best available option but my problem still here when I set 16-bit 48000Hz...) So,

When I set 2.1 mode in Surrounder+ I can set bass redirection. In this mode winamp play music in 6 chanel. Subwoofer is sounds better then ever before and stereo signal is mirrored to rear speakers too. But when I try to watch a muvie which have 5.1 AC3 audio content my front speakers do not work. (and games use 2.1 speaker setup too...)

When I set 5.1 mode in Surrounder+ winamp play music in 4.0 chanel mode. My subwoofer does not work (or very quiet and I can not boost it enoght to hear...) during stereo MP3 playback (and games use 2.1 sound ; not EAX games, I know that Vista not have diretSound support and Kx do not have EAX support, but Half-Life 2 do not use hardware acceleration or EAX support...).In this mode I can play muvies in 6 chanel mode but I have to set bass redirection from AC3 filter.
Because I do not have bass redirection setting in winamp I alwas have to change to 2.1 for MP3 playback and 5.1 for watching muvies.

Oh, and I have to set "spawn fornt-rear speaker" to get 6 chenel MP3 playback in winamp when I use 2.1 Surrounder+ setup and disable it when I swich to 5.1 for muvies. So this is buggy...

I think that Surrounder+ have a bug and bass redirection do not work in 5.1 mode.

well 3538m on my systems (i have 5 computers running Kx and traktor) has real issues with Traktor, I have an audigy 2ZS btw

The best version ive found for traktor so far is 3538j,
3538l I have to put the latency up quite high to get around pops and clicks
3538m I have strange issues, with it set to 48k/16 8+8 traktor wont play audio, if i change it to 44.1 i can directly select an output and it will play, but i still have troubles getting 4 stereo outputs and as there are no inputs with the 44.1k option thats no use to me.
I un-installed and re installed with 3538j exactly the same settings... (ultra basic DSP, which i re made from scratch incase for L and M) and it works great again.

hey fooks,i have installed windows vista x86 ,and works fine .
i have soundcard,creative soundblaster live {10k1}and and installed the kx driver 3538m and works almost fine ,but not the gameport.
it can't be installed ,and i get the following massage:

"there is a program find on this computer ,but there is a problem during the instalation

kx 10k1 Audio game port

In the instalatie program is missing an nothification
pasubly in the INF- file for windows 95 or a later version
pleace go to the fabricator of the hardware to find out if there are supported page's of this program avalable."

i went to the creative site to scan my pc,and says that i am up to date, ....?? but i have installed kx driver,, so how can it "not"see that there is no creative driver installed?
so i tryd it manually en there is no driver for vista x86 ,only 32 and 64

futher more i, there are no slide's in the master volume window from the mixer window
and speaker test is olso not working ,i get a massage : "there is no sound avalble"
in the multymedia proposie i can test is on stereo ,but not on 5.1
and i see thet the 3538j stil is installed ,but i did instal 3538m ,how can that be??

x86 refers to a computer system that is compatible with Intel's x86 CPU family. What you are referring to as Vista x86, is probably Vista 32 bit.

I do not have Vista so I cannot answer all of your questions (and kX does not fully support Vista as of yet), but I have seen similair reports from others in the forum, so I would suggest searching the forum.

Aside from the above:
For the joystick problem, try using the Creative joystick driver.

I don't know what you mean by "master volume window", but if you are not seeing sliders in kxmixer, it usually means that either the plugin(s) associated with that slider(s) is not loaded in the DSP (reinitialize the DSP), or there is a problem with the skin (find the kxskin.kxs file, and double click on it to re-register it).

Setup your speakers using the kX Speaker setup applet instead of in Windows Control Panel , and test your speakers using the kX Speaker test applet.

What makes you think 3538j is still installed?

also, I guess 'direct spdif recording' should be set to CD, too

Sound Card: SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 (SB0060)
Issues:
1. Game Port could not work, even use kx driver or creative WDM driver.
2. ASIO could not work with Foobar2000.v1.9.4 ASIO plug-in, but Kernal Stream could work well.

I sent you an email a few days ago (but did not hear back from you), so in case you did not get it for some reason, here is the basic info:

I have a 10k1 card. so I have no such options as 'direct spdif recording', etc.

DebugView shows the following:

I set my windows-speaker-configuration to 5.1.
Speaker Test shows me that only my front output is active when I use surrounder or surrounder+. When I route the sound directly to rear, center and sub everything works fine.

I hope you could fix that.

Surrounder does work, so you need to provide more info about the problem you are having...

It would probably be better to post a question about any problems you are having in another part of the forum, to try and confirm it is a bug before posting it here.

What OS are you using?
What model sound card?

Make sure that the default audio device for Windows (in the Control Panel) is set to kX Wave 0/1, and make sure that Surrounder is set to the appropriate setting for your speakers (i.e. 5.1, Surround On, Subwoofer enabled, etc.).

ah, Russ, sorry - i forgot to answer that:
spdif-in ac3-decoding is not supported on 10k1 cards - simply because they have no 'direct spdif recording' feature.

P16V recording - doesnt seem to offer any SRC for cases when a 48Khz S/PDIF source is applied to the Optical/Coax input of the Live Drive II.

A minor issue (annoyance).

With most of the kX windows (when opened), if you bring one of them to the foreground, all of them come to the foreground (plugin tweak windows being an exception).

Additionally, if you change one of these windows to be "Always On Top", all of the other windows are changed to "Always On Top" the next time that they are opened (whether they were already open on not).

I believe I've found a bug with Surrounder+ when used with an Audigy 4.
The Ins 'N' Outs can only control the output level of the speakers plugged into the Audigy's Black (Rear) output.



Here's the steps I went through to find this:
In speaker setup, I set it to 6.1 output (the same thing happens with 5.1 or 7.1) with Surround to On. The Swap Front and Rear speaks is set to On, and the Route Headphones to Center/Subwoofer is turned On as well.

I Played Music in Winamp and noticed it was coming out of all 3 outputs on the Audigy, hooray!

Went into Ins 'n' Outs and adjusted the levels for the Front Speakers (connected to the Audigy's Black output), the sound levels went up and down accordingly, so far so good.

But when I tried to adjust the rear speakers (connected to the Green output on the Audigy) the faders moved, but did not change the sound coming out of the speakers. Turning all the way up or down or muting didn't adjust the sound at all, it just kept playing at a consistent level.

I tried to adjust the center and subwoofer channels, and they also had no affect on the sound coming out of the Audigy.

To test this, I unchecked Swap Front and Rear speakers. NOW in the Ins 'n' Outs the Analog Rear faders adjusted the sound coming out of the Black plug, and the Analog Front faders had no effect!

It seems the Analog output controls in the Ins 'n' Outs section can only control the sound coming out of the Audigy's Black Plug, whether it's the Front or Rear output.

Something that made me wonder: If I go back into speaker setup, I CAN turn the center channel up and down by adjusting the VCenterA value, but the RearA and RearW controls don't do anything.



I'm not sure what other information might be useful, so I'm pasting my card info. I've got a few years experience programming with C++, and I would be interested in testing or debugging this problem myself if you think there might be anything I could do. Either way if I can help to get this fixed let me know how and I'll be glad to try!
