I hadn't realized they came out with a version 6 of DVD MovieFactory:
http://www.ulead.com/dmf/trial.htm
You can get the 30 day trial thing.
I swear - it is a pretty fantastic app and worth a shot.
Sometimes if it cannot import a ripped DVD (say from DVDFab Decrypter) I will process the ripped files with DVD Shrink, save those to the hard drive in another folder, then open them up in Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5.
I can do EXPORT SELECTED CLIPS to the format I want.
I bought just the standard version for $50 - didn't want all the extra stuff that the PLUS version has, since I already have Nero and didn't want to dupe functions.

Works only when copy protection is removed so you must get the DVD decrypted. I use this way since I can go from ordinal mpeg-2 to avi in my way and select the codecs needed and setup them as I like.
