Matth will become famous soon enough
System Specs

I'd look at freeware first, such as Avidemux, a well feature AVI, MPG , other format editor/converter, or Super - no point buying (or whatever!) software when you don't need to.

Trial software - 30 days,
Buying it to do one more file - money wasted,
Real freeware - Priceless!

Converting AVI files to what? What is your destination format? DVD? MPEG1/2? Or simply AVI to AVI (same format, different container)?
