??? Audigy 2 --> Audigy 4 or X-Fi. Why modding?

Hi everybody,
I'm writing because I need an info about the soft mod.
I've installed my AUDIGY 2 Retail, and I use the S/PDIF digital out only, connected to my amplifier for HTPC (YAMAHA RX540).
No other cables are connected!.
is it good for me to softmod my audio card?
Which are the improvements?
Many thanks.

If you do everything correctly the softmod won't be harmful to your card/system (unless you don't do it right)

Basically softmodding will give you better features/software (i.e. DTS Decoding, THX Console, etc.) better sound quality and overall lower CPU usage . . .
