Subwoofer not doing any thing.. with my new altec gt5051

I just got my new speakers (5.1 but only 4 speakers and 2 more speakers attacked to the rite n left so it makes a virtual surround sound)

Asus a7n8x deluxe rev2 onboard sound... 3 wires (connected in the sound in sound out and mic.. the subwoofer and center are supposed to be in the mic part but its not working 0-o)

using the nvmix settings thing on 5.1

i set up every thing correct i think but the bass is not doing any thing

i cant shake my house any more

please help me

EDIT**** ok i pluged in the subwoofer/center plug into the left/right speaker place (it was the main sound plug for my old speakers) and the bass worked like a dream... but the sound was really crappy......

WHAT DO I DO>#>!>??

heres some pics of the connections...

empty orange and purple connections in my asus manual it says ..that the orange one is Center/speaker bass speaker.. and the puple is surround speaker left/right

This is where mine are connected now... (usual audio in, out, mic) but theres other settings for 4-6 speakers where its line in, front speaker left/right, and microphone.

the main subwoofer thingy

System Specs

hmm.... check your Volume control panel...

do this... hit advanced and then go to optioins, properties... then check everything...

now hit ok and your entire slider array should expand...

Now check to see what is muted and not... volume on the sliders for the center and whatnot..

now i had a motherboard that had the color codings or jacks set incorrectly, it said plug it into a specific jack but produced nothing.... it's kinda strange..

try the sub in other jacks.. just make sure you don't have the speakers cranked.. play music through winamp to make sure it's producing sound through all channels...

nope none of that...

when i go to advanced settings on the main volume it has the bass and trebel settings but i cant access them.. and under it theres 2 check boxs that ask if the subwoofer / center is connected to the mic jack and if the rear speakers are connected in the line in jack)

tried a bunch of different plugs but no change.. xept when i plug the center/subwoofer into the audio out it does exactly what i was expecting the subwoofer to do (good bass) but the sound quality is poop
