Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS internal FireWire pin assignment / how connect to frontpanel
Does anyone know how to connect to a frontpanel FireWire from the Audigy 2 ZS internal FireWire?
6 plugs lead to the front, the assignment of the cable is: 1...VP (white) 2...VG (white+black) 3...TPB+ (yellow+black) 4...TPB- (green) 5...TPA+ (yellow) 6...TPA- (blue) 1) Just found this thread: http://www.abxzone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64326 They used: 1: TPA+ 2: TPA- 3: VG 4: empty 5: TPB+ 6: TPB- 7: empty 8: empty 9: VP I don't know yet if that works, can anyone confirm this setting? 2) Another thread has a different assignment and says that the VP pin must not be used and that one has to split the VG wire into 2 seperate wires: http://www.abxzone.com/forums/showth...ht=audigy+case 1: TPA+ 2: TPA- 3: empty 4: GND 5: TPB+ 6: TPB- 7,8: empty 9: GND Before I start splitting wires etc it would be good to know if that really works. Anyone has an answer to this? Thanks! Last edited by Patrick2005; Jan 4, 2005 at 03:38 PM. |

So far none of those settings worked, I did not split the VG line yet.
I called Creative and they gave me the pin assignment: TPA+ |1|2| TPA- GND |3|4| GND TPB+ |5|6| TPB- +12V |7|8| +12V (NC) | |10| PHY_GND Anyone has a working solution to connect the frontpanel FireWire? |

Seems only way to find this out is to ask someone who have AudigyDrive with firewire to track every single pin from connector to Drive...

if you have a drive, use a multimeter on the "beep" setting and see what you can come up with

Well, the connector of the Audigy Drive won't help me much as it has the same design as the connector on the card.
I fear the internal FireWire works with the Drive only. I called Creative again, they said they don't know if it works, one has to try and find out by oneself. Maybe there is a PCI extension card that has an internal FireWire pin connector. Anyone knows one by chance? |

if you have the pinout for the firewire port itself (on the front of the drive), using a multi meter you can find the right pins on the connector

another way to test is to use a small led, some wires, and a battery. same process as using a multi-meter
