Just got my Audigy 2 ZS for $50 but am having a little trouble in Windows

I updated all the drivers i did a progressive update ( i wasnt sure if i had to but figured that would be safest). Anyways games, music, DVDs work great, but in ventrilo peoples voices have a kinda tinny higher pitched vocie. Also in windows when Im surfing the net or around or browsing folders, the "click" noise when a page refreshes or folder opens doesnt sound right. Its also like a higher pitched noise almost like a pop. If i slide my treble down about 25% or so it sounds about right but I shouldnt have to do that should I? I feel like that I am missing some setting or something. I tried messing around w/ CMSS didt seem to help that problem.

Im using a cheap 100 watt surround system, but I also tried plugging in my headset and desktop speakers still doesnt seem to sound quite right. If I set the treble to about 16% and the bass to about 31% it sounds pretty good.

I was reading the PAX forum and got confused. Do I just need to uninstall my creative stuff, install the 3.69g then the audio HQ patch? Or do I need to dl/install something else as well?

I foudn the link for the audigy 4 PAX drivers, do i need to uninstall all my creative stuff, or just the drivers? Also, once I install the PAX driver, can I reinstall my creative software or does PAX have its own version of software for the modded driver?

Thanks

Kevin

Kevin, I am pretty sure you'll need to uninstall the Creative drivers...not sure about software. I just got the Audigy 2 ZS as well and this was the procedure I followed when installing the drivers/software for the new card.

1.) Installed PAX Audigy 4 Drivers; Reboot
2.) Installed the Creative software that I wanted from the CD (no drivers); Reboot
3.) Performed the AutoUpdate on Creative's website.

All worked well and sound is awesome, better than my Audigy Gamer and onboard SoundStorm.

I gave it a try I uninstalled all creative stuff then ran driver cleaner and installed the PAX audigy 4 drivers. Everything is working well. The sound is definitely better, but I still had the problem of having to adjust my bass and treble. Im going to check out the audigy 4 software pack now, I havent put any creative stuff back on yet.
