Live 5.1 AC3 decode on SPDIF IN

There seems to be a few threads where some info relating to this is discussed, but they always seem to get off topic and there is never a clear answer.

Is there a way with YouP-PAX, or any other driver for that matter (including Linux) to decode AC3 comming into the Live 5.1 over the SPDIF Input? I know kX can't do it, will it in the future?

Can we keep this post on topic so there is finally a definitive answer for this please? This has nothing to do with AC3-passthrough, or playing your dvd's and having ac3 sound work. This only has to do with using the Live as an AC3 decoder to avoid buying an external decoder.

Thanks

Thanks, but how do you direct the spdif input to AC-3 filter? On the AC-3 Filter webpage it only talks about passthrough and playing avi files with ac3, not decoindg from an external source.

Creative original driver definitely can do this. I don't know if AC3 decoding is able to come into the Live 5.1 over the SPDIF Input. But if you have external bay, you try to open "control panel"→"creative control panel extended"→"device set"→"SPDIF INPUT" and see whether you have "AC3 SPDIF-in decode".(install YouP-PAX VI ULTRA)
