??? Intel onboard sound card vs. Audigy LS

Hi, is there any huge difference of performance between Intel motherboard (Intel D865GBF) integrated 6 channel soundcard and Creative Audigy LS?

there would be a large difference imo… CL cards generally have good sound quality when compared to onboard sound

I heard that Audigy LS is a software based card. So I think the difference will be minimum. What do u think?

software of hardare processing doesn;t come into account here
firstly the LS card is 24 bit capable, and has higher quality converters than the onboard sound, this increases the sound quality drasticly (especially with a 24 bit source)

Well, what dj_stick means is the quality of adc/dac, its frequency response, sampling, THD, noise level, crosstalk, etc. Most onboard sound lack of good stereo separation (left and right channel not really 'separated') like Creative or other's sound *card*

Does any one know AMD MOBO that offer both onboard sound card & graphics card?
If they does I will buy a AMD 64 3200+ rather than Intel 3.0 GHz H/T.

Well, it really depends on what you need and what you want to hear. You may like Realtek, and other may not. What you can hear and what other may different too. Some can hear that 'sub-ultrasonic' sound, every tick on cymbal, every slight differences, but others may not recognize that. So it really depends on you. Better try first before you buy. You can analyze with RightMark Audio too, there you can find some parameters like THD, noise level, etc, but it not really worth too if it doesn't satisfy your ear.

But I prefer the -real- card, cause it doesn't comsume proc power, and some other -slight- differences that I really need to hear.

If I upgrade my system by buying new processors & motherboard then I have not enough to buy/keep Audigy 2 (I right now using Audigy LS & I m not happy with it & Audigy2 ZS is too costly for me right now.)
