Well, shoot. I've redid using latest provided, and it still doesn't work. I have a Audigy 2 ZX card and Live Drive 2 bay. If someone can make one and confirm it for sure works, i'd be willing to pay for the time and all. I've made it twice now, checked it over 2ce to make sure, and still nothing works. When i plug it back into the Audigy 1 card, it works fine, so the drive isn't faulty. I'm just tired of messing with troubleshooting anymore. Might someone be able to help me here? Thanx.

djdafreud:
Please specify: 1. what drivers you are using, 2. what EXATCLY was / wasn't working, 3. are you aware of pin 25 to pin 35 bridging problem/solution, 4. are you aware that you need hardware mod for your LiveDriveII in order to enable EVERY feature available! Please, try enabling different features at your LiveDriveII ONE-BY-ONE, try SPDIF inputs/outputs first, see if it works before continuing further...

Hope this helps out to figure why things aren't working right for me.
1. I am using the newest drivers of Creative's website. 2. Headphones aren't working, SPDIF In/out, optical in/out, i'm getting nothing. 3. I am aware of pin 25-35 connecting together. Gives me proper options, but no workie. 4. I've read about hardware modifications, but i'm not expecting to get 96khz (or whatever it was, i forgot) sampling rate. So i'm not concerned about modding the drive. I'm just needing in order of importance the following 1.) SPDIF IN/OUT (nessesary) 2.) MIDI IN/OUT (also nessessary) 3.) Headphones (So-so important.) 4.) RCA Input jacks (nice, but can handle using back inputs with rca to headphone cable.) 5.) Optical (Not needed to bad, since i have a SPDIF-Optical In/Out convertor box i bought.) 6.) Wireless Remote. (don't need this really as i use my USB UIRT anyway.) 7.) Mic. input (not going to use anyway.) With the older version excel file, things were partially working. I could hear the spdif input working, but dim. But overall i was getting a loud hum/buzz coming out through my speaker, and when i turned my input volume up from 0, sounded like a sine wave generator almost that rised in pitch as i turned up the knob (not good i know.). Now with the new excel file diagram, no buzz/noise at all, however no inputs/outputs work either anymore. I double checked each wire to make sure. There were a couple wires i cut by matching the new diagram. (3 or so that had ''-' next to right side of the live drive side that used to have to be connected according to the order diagram. I really don't know what i could be doing wrong. I've followed it to a T when wireing the cable connector. I would like to have 96khz sampling rate output, but don't have the resources to get the parts needed, unless someone would let me pay them to do it for me, and i would send it to them, paid and pay for the parts/service/shipping back. I REALLY appreciate the help here BTW, that's why i was hosting the file on my server, to try to help other as well myself. That's what it's all about afterall. |

getting SPDIF inputs / outputs and MIDI is easier part of the job, really!!!
How come that something worked before, and now nothing works, that's really, really strange... If i remember right, conneceting only some GNDs, +5V & SPDIF pins should make these basic things work... Try it yourself, no big deal, really; you just need to connect four wires + 25->35 bridge... Make sure you connected power supply cable from your PSU to the LiveDriveII... Make this test & keep us posted... good luck

One thing i'm scared of actually, is when i take a 4 pin connector, and connect (wired 2 RCA female jacks, coming out of the back just for now, just for testing.) them to pins 3 and 5, for SPDIF Input, and connected another to pins 7 and 9 for SPDIF Output, and pins 25 and 35 together, i did get audio out to my receiver fine. I still have my Audigy 1 card in my machine so i can flip back and forth to make sure all the settings are right. (IE-Power DVD to SPDIF Only, and Decoder set to SPDIF Passthough, Digital Sampling rate has to be on 48khz, unless i want to hardware mod my Live drive of course, and SPDIF In to AC3 Decode/or Normal but not SPDIF Bypass, so as using the same settings on Audigy 1, i properly here the input signal get decoded and recognized by seeing the DolBy Digital Logo appear in lower right hand corner of screen briefly, and hearing all 5 channels properly.)
And i do fully understand that with SPDIF Output, if not playing a movie, it will only output Prologic (when on 2 speaker output setting.) which is fine, since i'm only playing music when using output anyway. But i can't for the life of me seem to get SPDIF Input working using the AD_EXT header pins. And i do have also the pins 25 and 35 connected to each other, and see the proper extra options in the Control Apl. One thing i haven't tried (reguarding when using the Live Drive 2) is trying pin 5 to 6 instead of 15 (SPDIF0), but i can't seem to get input working even with direct pin wiring (with pins 25 and 35 still connected of course.) I hope i'm giving enough information here to help you help me troubleshoot what you think might be the reason it's not working correct. I'm understanding based on features i want, i only need to use the following pins- Audigy 2 Live Drive 2 1 <---> 2 2 <---> - 3 <---> 3 4 <---> 5 5 <---> 15 or 6 6 <---> 12 7 <---> 7 8 <---> 8 9 <---> 17 10 <---> - 11 <---> - 12 <---> - 13 <---> 4 14 <---> 14 15 <---> 39 16 <---> 16 17 <---> 37 18 <---> 18 20 <---> 20 22 <---> 21 23 <---> 10 (Maybe not needed for me) 24 <---> 11 (Maybe not needed for me) 25 <---> 13 (Maybe not needed for me) 26 <---> 26 32 <---> 32 33 <---> 24 35 <---> 23 (Maybe not needed for me) 36 <---> - 37 <---> 25 38 <---> 38 39 <---> 27 40 <---> - That should cover what i hooked up (i originally had all pins mentioned in file i got (updated) connected to make sure every function would work -- 96khz functionality fo course) I do see optical Out lighting up, but that lights up with no cable connected still, so i know that doesn't mean anything. Hope that helps. And thanks again so much for helping me out and working with me to get this working. I'm thinking i'm doing things right at least, maybe i'm still missing something though. Thanks Samir a lot. I appreciate you helping me troubleshoot this. :-) |

Hmmmm, now i really don't know what you should do next... Maybe trying direct wiring AD_EXT SPDIF output(s) to AD_EXT SPDIF input (pin9 to pin 5, etc...), to check if your input / output(s) work properly... Of course, you should mantain 25 to 35 bridge while doing this...
Also, you may temporarily switch to kX drivers; for it'll give you better control of all inputs / outputs, and it doesn't require 25 to 35 bridge at all!!! good luck!

Now i'm baffled too. Shoot. One thing i really don't want to do is switch to KX Drivers. Nothing against them, i used to use them for a while, but switched back because of doing a lot of recording. The properties are kinda kind of difficult learning curve now. Just can't get the hang of it.
With Creative's Software (using Audigy 4 software), i know exactly where to switch recording source, where to control SPDIF Output/Input, Soundfont technology (Keyboards is my thing.), and the main levels of Playback and Recording are easily in view to control. KX are kind of thrown around in different sections. In order to use the EQ (10 band or whatever it is.) you have to disable a big function so you can add EQ panel, or else you get an error saying you don't have enough to use it. I know some of all of what i'm saying is due to me not knowing a lot of how things work. It's been about a year or year and a half since i've used it. And when i used it, was from that point til the 1st release made available. So i'm somewhat experienced with following up with each update and all, just seems to have gotton confusing with the layout of how recording from different sources, and playback levels work, as well as me using my 7.1 speaker setup properly with it. I don't know i guess. I'd just like to start by getting my SPDIF In/Out MIDI In/Out working. I'll make baby steps later. LOL So i guess you confirm that with 25+35 connected, and using 3 <---> 3 5 <---> 15 or 6 7 <---> 7 9 <---> 17 and power running to it, it should be working fine, right? Unless something is physically wrong with the card, or maybe not and something else not done right? Thanks. |

confirmed...
![]() But you should make AD_EXT only SPDIF loopback first, to check your inputs / outputs...

I have read most of the stuff in this thread, there are a few guys hooking up front panels of previous creative models to the audigy 2 and some guys using the digital in and out.
Maybe I haven't read it all good enough, but has someone managed it to get the second analog mic_in2/ine_in2 and analog headphone_out2 working? I can't really find anything on that (without using a front panel of a previous creative soundcard)... |

No, not without creative's front panel 'Drives' or something self-made that emulates it... It's simply impossible, because MicIn2/LineIn2 & Aux2 & HeadphoneOut are DIGITAL inputs / outputs (i2s) on Audigy card series itself...

like djdafreund I get a primarly a hiss/buzz sound with the music/sound played faintly in the background when connecting my audigy 2ZS -> Audigy (1) drive. Iエve used the latest xls file and havenエt tried any of the alternative ports (the ones with try X first and then Y). I havenエt checked all the wires after constructing the cable (I use a regular multimeter) but will soon. The sound is the same through SPDIF Optical and Headphones. Line out on the soundcard has a more normal sound but now carries the same noisy sound in the right channel. Ill verify the cable next week prolly. Sounds like some GND is fed with garbage to me?.
I also wonder about the ad_ext (pin 6) -> aud_ext (pin 12) connection should be done. I have no 11 or 12 on my aud_ext. My audigy (1) drive does not have aud_ext (pin 1) neither. /Kalle |

I'm pretty much sure that AUD_EXT has all pins from 1 to 40 excepto for 29 & 30 (wihite blank 'key' spaces on connector)...
Are you sure we are talking about same connector here ?!?

This is the diagram I use for the cable:
http://xoomer.virgilio.it/chillextas...Audigy2_v2.jpg I've connected a LiveDrive of my old SBLive! Platinum 5.1 with the Audigy2ZS card modifing the Drive hardware... without the modifications, no SPDIF @ 96KHz and no LineIn2/Aux2 inputs. Good work! |

Is there any one who knows Device ID of earphone of Audigy2 0240 for Creative drivers, which is used on Audigy2 Platinum. Your replays are highly appreciated!

WOHAAA!
SPDIF and headphones (only things Iエve tried) now works. And to Samir - couldn't you just say it in my face "YOU PUT IT UPSIDEDOWN FOOL".. Many thanks to all in this thread but especially to you Samir for clarifying stuff. Iエve got one question though - Im not able to play DTS ES material (got audigy 2 ZS and audigy 1 drive). Is that 24bit/96khz? ...which is more than this setup can handle? Its played back as PCM anyway. Dolby digital 5.1 works good. 96khz (set in audio HQ just makes stuff go quiet. /Kalle |

Glad it worked, Grugel... Have you tired anything other than SPDIF and Headphones?
Don't know about DTS ES, but LiveDrive I & II are not 96kHz capable... Try searching for some posts in this thread, some users managed to hardmodd LiveDriveII to get 24/96 working...

Hello!
I have an interesting question/problem about the mapped Ag 2 pinouts. I bought an Audigy 2 ZS (OEM) card yesterday). Before this I only have a motherboard intergrated soundcard, which came on my P4P800 motherboard. I bought an extension card, which added an optical output, and an extra coaxial output to my mainborad integrated souncard. Here are two pictores about the extension card (important): http://web.t-online.hu/dchard/asus-front.jpg http://web.t-online.hu/dchard/asus-back.jpg The extension card uses 3 cable to make connection with the mainboard. The black one is the ground. The brown goes to the optical and the coaxila (SPDIF) output too. And the red one goes only to the optical output. My main problem is how to combine the extension card with my Audigy 2 ZS. I think if I connect the black cable to PIN 7 or 8, and the brown cable to SPDIF0 OUT (pin 9), the extension card's coaxila out can be work with the Audigy 2 ZS. Is this possible??? <-- This is my main question. If the extension card brake down because of my experiments, its not a big a problem, but I don't want to blast my new and expensive Ag 2 ZS card. Or if this way is a dead end, are there any way to use this extension card with audigy 2 ZS? Please help/inform me. Thank you very much! Dchard from Hungary |

Hello!
I've tried what I'am posting yesterday, and its working !I'am very happy And the both output (optical and coaxial SPDIF too) working fine!!! The conclusion: the ASUS P4P800 motherboard integrated sound card's extension card CAN work together with Audigy 2 ZS, without any error, and without any physical changes on any card. So now I have an otpical and a koaxila output for my Audigy 2 ZS OEM, from only 10-12$. Its great. Have a nice day! Dchard |

**Hi All, I'm a newbie so please bear with me... have read through the forum several times on all this and pretty impressed at how it has all been "nutted" out to get the cards working, good job!
I'm running WinXP Pro / Media Center Edition 2005 and I have an SB0240 Audigy 2 OEM with the coloured connectors on the output plate, not the gold ones, so it isn't a true Audigy 2 ZS but seems to have all the same connectors and the white bracket at the top left and long 40 pin bracket at the back edge, etc. And It is actually branded as an SB0240. I'm wanting to couple it either with an Audigy 1 drive panel that I have (ultimately my preferred option), or like dchard to connect particularly the Optical out as a starting point, to output to my Logitech Z-680 speakers. I get the concept of remaking a cable to connect the drive to the card or attach pin connections directly like dchard did, will work on that shortly. BUT I have several main questions if I may: 1. dchard, which connection pins did you end up using for your Optical bracket to connect to the Audigy 2? I also am running an Asus P4P800 M/B and have an optical bracket (although admittedly mine is an MSI bracket I had on hand, that I reconfigured the pins to match those of your true Asus bracket). I am assuming you connected the red to the 5V pin 1, the black ground to pin 7 and the brown optical cable to pin 9? Just wanted to check please. 2. This is my biggest problem that nobody else seems to be mentioning so maybe it is just me or my card or something, but... I CAN'T GET THE CREATIVE DRIVERS OR SOFTWARE TO EVEN RECOGNISE MY CARD!!! I just get an error when I try to install any of the software saying "Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster Audigy 2 on your system", but Windows does know the actual card is there because it brought up the new hardware wizard when I rebooted after installing it. I can "cheat" and manually point to the WDM drivers in the latest Audigy 2 drivers that I downloaded so that gives me very basic, limited functionality with the card like basic stereo audio output from the card's back panel. But I can't connect up my Fronts, rears and centre to the three outputs like I should be able to and get anything other than the fronts (ie basic stereo).. and in the standard WinXP Volume control it lists it just as SB Audigy Audio [DC00]Can anyone advise if they know whether I'd be needing special drivers for this OEM version of the card (came as a white box version with just the card, no driver disc or manual, etc) or if I'm doing something wrong?? Does everyone else see the option of the three sets of speaker outputs in their Windows Volume Control?Again, full credit to all of you who have worked so hard to make it all happen; I would value your thoughts so I know if I should be sending the card back or trying something different. Obviously if I could have afforded a full Audigy 2 ZS I would have, this was my next best alternative. It is supposedly very similar to the ZS with better functionality than the Value version, but so far I can't even get it to do what the basic Value version would! By the way, would connecting up pins 25 and 35 as mentioned make a difference in the way Creative drivers see the card, ie what they think it is? Thanks in advance and apologies at the essay, I won't make a habit of it! Dluggers. |

1. Yes, red should be +5V, black GND, and brown SPDIF signal... (At lease at few brackets i got it was so...)
2. More than few Audigy users complained about Creative drivers not recognising their cards... Try latest beta driver from Creative or kX driver, here at DriverHeaven... good luck!

Hi, thanks for the clarification and thoughts on drivers. After digging around a whole lot more I finally got hold of a version of the OEM driver from the manufacturer in Taiwan via the ebay dealer the goods came from (got lucky on that one) and to cut a long story short by extracting 4 files out of the main setup directory of that driver and replacing the same files in the directory of a standard Creative (updated or otherwise) driver, I can get my sound card to install and give functionality, so that is great. The files as others have mentioned along the way, are are data1.cab, data1.hdr, setup.ini and setup.inx which should all be located in the main install directory of the extracted out drivers, next to the main setup.exe file. If you copy these from your original install / driver setup that you have into the same location of the updated Creative drivers and overwrite the ones there, you "SHOULD" be able to then run setup.exe and install as though you were a normal accepted Audigy 2 card. It may even work for other versions of cards, I'm not sure, I've only tested with Audigy 2 OEM. For me this works better than using the patcher programs mentioned in various threads because those patcher programs don't include my OEM card's ID. But with these I can patch virtually any driver set to suit my needs....
Having a few issues getting the Audigy 1 drive working with the Audigy 2 card, having now created the modified cable; I have the Optical red light on but no throughput from it to my Logitech Z-680's so either there is something wrong in my cable I've made or I've missed something. It could again also be something to do with this card and maybe different pinouts but I doubt that one at this stage.... one thing at a time though, will check my cable again first... thus far just get a hiss through the two Auxiliary inputs from the drive unit (if I mute them in sound mixer the hiss stops).. all outputs from the back of the card itself are working fine though. Thanks.. DLuggers |

Audigy 2 and Live!Drive IR
I've had a good read through this to try and get the Audigy 2 (SB0240) and Live!Drive IR (SB0010) working together on my XP Home SP2 system.
It seems to be that I need to modify the cable in some way but I don't seem to have been able to find out how. I also saw mention of changing a jumper which I have tried but didn't seem to make any difference. If anyone could post a series of simple steps I'd appreciate it. Thanks RAP |
