I just completed a clean install of Windows XP Pro, applying all Service Packs and updates.
I have an original Sound Blaster Audigy Player card and went to the Creative site and downloaded the latest drivers (AUD_EAX4DRV_031031.exe).
I installed these drivers and the card was then recognized and seemed to be working OK.
I then ran the dxdiag.exe utility and discovered that for the DirectSound tests I could not run the hardware buffered tests

.
Worse still, in the 'Device' area on the 'Sound' tab of the dxdiag.exe utility the name field has my card name with '(emulated)' tagged on the end of it. Also, the 'Drivers' area on the 'Sound' tab has all blank fields except for the 'Provider' field which says Creative

.
I have installed NO software (including any drivers) from my original Audigy installation disk.
I have also installed DirectX 9.0b again since applying these Audigy drivers (AUD_EAX4DRV_031031.exe).
It seems like the drivers are not installed properly for some reason.
Does anybody know what have I missed or done wrong? Is there anything I can try?
Thanks for any help.
