game with most amazing sound to date?

which game did u find sound the best?
worst was quake 3. no eax support when they had it at the time! so far i think either splinter cell, max payne 2 or hitman 2 has best sound. ut2003 has it good, but its too many sounds and too loud

SOF2 has the best SFX.

IMO EAX is crap, and even makes some stuff sound worse.

eax always helps for me i hate nvidia soundstorm and fortissmo.
the soundstorm jus turns me off because its onboard, whenever i put on eax sounds are just too amazing like jedi knight 2 or jedi academy.

EAX is just like echos, dampaning, reverb, and muffling. I like the sound without EAX alot better than with it.

I have tried it with an audigy 2 and a sound storm and the sound storm sounds the same, except its faster. Only sad thing is no drivers with the qaulity of KX for it.

i use cmss and eax presets i get better sound that soundstorm, soundstorm is basically sb live 5.1. im also using a inspire 5.1 5300 speakers btw. audigy 2 goes to waste without 5.1 at least haha

whoa, the SB live has very bad sound quality, its alot worse than about the audigy and the sound storm.

I have a 8 speaker sound system. 4 polk studio monitors, 2 sherwoods, 2 DA800s. I have 3 high end amps powering them, a yamaha, a pioneer, and a harmon kardon. I get very good sound out of them, so I can really tell the differnce between sound cards and what different effects will do.

damn thats a lotta speakers, i wanna get the new gigaworks so much cash and no room for it ahha. well like the sb live was amazing sound quality at the time u have to admit IT WAS AN ENOURMUS DIFF FROM GOD DAMN SB 16 when i plugged in my speakers! god!

SOF2 i found a lot of issues with the game that i just quit. mouse wouldnt always work, sound sometimes got distorted and jus q3's engine was annoyng u cant minimize and the game was far too hard on my old system

Hmm..

Well technically speaking Soundstorm is closer to the Audigy 1 as far as sound quality goes.

Also Sensaura I think is probably the best if properly implemented with the latest library.

No no no- soundstorm is better than that- much better. I would have gotten an Audigy, but Creative drivers suck ass. My Fortissimo III 7.1 sounds awesome. Not quite as fast as soundstorm, (fast meaning uses less CPU)-- but sound is great. Way better than SB live 5.1- No matter how old the chip is. And my NF7 doesn;t have SS, so I can't compare- But one thing to tell you, the Sound Storm onboard is faster than your augigy, just because it's onboard doesn't mean anything, its' a great "soundcard".

I love SOF2- by far the best MP FPS game IMO- the hit detection is great, game is fun, etc...

But the sound sux- I like the actual sounds, but the most they run at is 22khz- It sounds like crap to me- 44khz is much better..

Yep, Creative drivers are bad when compared to NVIDIA Soundstorm ones.
But, with Audigy you can use kX drivers, which are way better than Soundstorm ones.

Yes they are, tons better- I alsmost bought an audigy just to use the KX drivers when deciding wich card to get.. But I use it mostly for games, and at the time I wasn't sure how well the KX drivers work for games and EAX3--

i just like creatives mixer but they have too much junk in their software/drivers. if they reduced it, compacted into a smaller package and more frequent updates (because there are always sound issues) it would be far better. i do use the eax console and stuff quite often and cmss helps a lot to differentiate the sound channels

I dont agree, the db of the card is very high and the sound quality is noticeable even with high quality source stereo output through high end speakers.

well when i use 2.1 mode on this it sounds BS putting it to 5.1 really helps. its the bass redirection which all 5.1 cards have i guess.

Well I dont know everyone else seems to have said it sucked, but I loved the game, it looked great, sounded great and most importantly played great ! It was the game Halo should have been IMO.

I use a pretty standard 5.1 set up, but i have replaced my subwoofer with my friends old blues bass sub!
I have a amp that feeds 350w to the bass sub, made by Boss, it hits 300w peak and 250w longterm, it rocks every door in my house when playing battlefield 1942 and i get hit by a tank.My satalite speakers are made by denon and are 60w each and are powered by my denon amp which also powers my bedroom speakers.

its pretty bad unless u run it with credentials to force 5.1 on. it is horrible. the music sounds nice but the sound is soso (with the 5.1 forced on)

splinter cell is sick sound, glass sounds amazing in that game. max payne has awesome environmental sounds makes it feel so damn real. i was amazed how in the first level from outside to inside the warehouse u hear a extreme difference in rain sounds hittin against a metal roof

Sorry to join late and not read any posts..... But Doom III alpha had some fuckin creepy ambient noises. You just hear things creaking and scraping. I mean, maybe it was due in part to the atmosphere, but those sounds were so realistic. Although, I do have nice crisp clean spearkers...

doom 3 has jaw dropping sound, the gun shots are just plain amazing, they have a guy from that rock band nine inch nails doing the sound. i have the alpha and its sickening sound even with all the bugs and no eax or anything. dont even know if its stereo! doom 3 should be one solid game all around (I JUST HOPE IT LETS U MINIMIZE AND HAVE GOOD RAM USAGE LIKE MAX PAYNE 2)
