WinXP and Audigy 1
Ok, Today i installed a fresh copy of windows xp sp1. updating video/intel/et cetera drivers, all except sound card.
So i begin with trying to install driver and software from the audigy 1 original cd. after it finished i rebooted and sound was enabled. Under device manager it showed as "Creative Audigy Sound Processor (WDM)" under Sounds Devices from Control Panel, it was "Emu10Kx Audio [A800]". This was odd because i never had that device before. Before it was something like "Audigy SB0090". Well, i ignore that and proceed to setup my speakers ( biggest problem ). AudioHQ would not let me have 4 speakers!!! Default was on 4 speakers, but only 2 worked. So i thought i'll try set to 2 speakers and immediatly set it back to 4. The program just basically crashed, and i could never access it again.
I tried download Core Driver package from Creative, it says it could not detect my Audigy.
So i tried the softmods hacked drivers. Step #3. download the UP Driver, installed the driver with the auto setup, and ran the audigy 2 software hack. It could not detect the audigy. After that, i manually install the UP driver, it still couldn't find the audigy. I got pissed off and manually install the driver from SB_Install\Audio\Drivers. And it finally pick up the audio device, still shown as "Emu10Kx Audio [A800]". And the audigy 2 software hack did not detect the audigy...
I installed kX drivers and software. It works GREAT! Picked it up as kX Audio SB0090 and I have all 4 speakers working and everything.. except for EAX... that is why i would like my normal audigy drivers to work. I sold my audigy 2 to a friend yesterday, so i'll ask him for it back if this doesnt work out.
The problem seems that the setup does not pick up any compatible audio devices. I think it's the "Emu10Kx Audio [A800]" is the problem. I also tried re-installing WinXP, it didn't help.
Another problem, while trying to do the Audigy 2 hacked software, it could not pick up any audigy/live devices..
If someone know any info about where the audigy 2 software is trying to detect ( example, what file? ), please tell me.
If anyone can help me, please feel free to post

Update on situation:
Ok, sometimes when i manually update the drivers to any of the audigy driver, i gotten the sound to work, still shows up as EMU*, but atleast the sounds work. I'm fine with that as long as EAX is supported. But the problem is i can't change the output setting to 4.1 speakers w/o AudioHQ. I even tried manually installing AudioHQ... but it doesnt work .

Ok sweet! I changed my sound card from pci slot 6 to pci slot 5, installed evil383 driver, audio was detected. Installed SlimPack , failed to detect audigy / live! card, but i manually install audiohq and surroundmixer, and it worked! i guess i'm not one of the lucky person to install audigy 2 hacked software

I am sorry to have to disappoint you, but I suspect that it could be this problem.
Could you please verify if your Audigy looks like this or not?
Also, to be sure, it would be great if you installed kX Drivers and copied info from "About" here.

No, no... this card we are talking about right now could be the one with erased eeprom (as dallastar describes). This is the most probable thing...
Only solution I know is to try to get a replacement card or use kX Drivers - Creative drivers will simply refuse to install.
