Default Post Audigy Problem Santa Cruz Solution?

I have a SB Audigy Gamer card and when playing High Heat 2003, I get an annoying announcer problem where sentences are repeated constantly. I have to turn down Hardware Acceleration one notch to get rid of the problem. Would the Santa Cruz card work better?

Are you using the latest compaq drivers for your Audigy? If not, get them here:

http://users2.ev1.net/~dallasstar/Cr...ps/drivers.ace

(you don't need a compaq to use these)

I have the latest drivers from Creative's website. The problem is a compatibility issue with High Heat 2003 that forces everyone with Audigy cards to turn down acceleration one notch. I am wondering how it goes with the Santa Cruz card?

Creative's site has older drivers than the ones I posted. Please try these:they are very good. You may be pleasantly surprised in the audio quality (and possibly in game compatibility) after installing.

No offense, but I think it is kind of pathetic when you have to download drivers for your sound card from a third party manufacturer to fix major sound issues.

I know you're trying to be helpful, but do you think Compaq has better drivers than what Creative lists on their website? How do you think Compaq gets those drivers? I'd be willing to bet they get them from Creative for their OEM cards. I have a retail version of Audigy and can't see using Compaq drivers for my card - just doesn't make sense.

The Creative drivers may look older because Compaq gets the updated driver for their OEM card when Creative feels like giving it to them, and that will be after the driver is posted on Creative's site. However, I do not believe that Creative is giving Compaq a better driver, only a driver for their OEM card.

Compaq does not have better drivers for the Audigy card. Compaq has drivers provided to them from Creative for the OEM version that Compaq uses. The best drivers for the Audigy card Retail version is found at Creative's website.

If I'm not mistaken, to get the new drivers form Creative you need to pay to have a CD shipped to you. I don't know if this is still happening or not, but I think it is true still.

No, you are mistaken. Anyone with a retail version can download the newest driver from Creative's website.

No, I meant future drivers. What is on their website is definitely not the newest revision. A newer revision can be found at Compaq's site for God's sake.

Okay, suit yourself. I have verified that these drivers are indeed newer than any drivers available on the creative website. Its pretty sad that third parties have newer drivers than the manufacturer itself, but that's just the way it is...

For example: People get ATI driver leaks all the time. An official driver only comes about once every 3-4 months. See where I'm going?

These drivers are indeed newer than the ones on Creative's site. I have verified this myself. I don't know why you're being so stubborn about how "your drivers are the best". Have you even looked at these? Compaq gets these directly from Creative (but Creative is too lazy to add it to its site )

Just to prove to you that they are newer, see this: http://users2.ev1.net/~dallasstar/untitled.gif

Now, rightclick "mycomputer". go to properties. hardware. device manager. now, under the "sound, video and game controllers", look for "sb audigy" and rightclick and go to properties. go to the drivers tab. Now compare the date in my picture to the one you are seeing. Surprised?

Driver Leaks? Well, ATI does have a "beta" version available. So Compaq has the latest drivers for the Audigy card, and better drivers for the Audigy card than Creative has at its website. What possible reason could there be for Creative to provide Compaq with a better driver than what's available at its own site??? Is it some sort of conspiracy? What you didn't show in the link provided is the "main" driver for your sound card. Look in Driver Details and see if you have e10kx2K.sys listed, then highlight and see if it says File Version 5.12.01 0134.1.20.0030.

Surprise Surprise I have a newer version than you 5.12.01.0242-1.31.0020

Notice that in your version, the bold area says "0134". Dude, did you come here to get help or did you just come here to fuss?

I would suggest that instead of arguing over the the drivers, you guys should just settle your differences and buy cards from a better company. The world would be a much better place then.

Yes that's always a valid option, but what about the 90 bucks wasted on the Audigy? Who's gonna pay for that? (God know's I'd take back my 90 bucks and then buy a 45 dollar Acoustic Edge or a 90 dollar GTXP that comes with a breakout box included any day... the only reason I got the Audigy was cuz of EAX3 and it is quite nice, but not worth missing out on Sensaura technology which prolly sounds just as nice .... not to mention all the connections which I thought would be included with the standard audigy that weren't such as spdif inputs and optical inputs ). I wish I had been smarter earlier. (though I still like my Audigy very much and am more than satisfied with the sound quality)

Creative did tell me there was a "beta" version out and THAT'S probably what you have. The Creative tech guy who told me about the beta download suggested I don't use it. I didn't question him on the issue and don't really care since I don't beta test products.

1. No they are not selling audigy drives. They sell live drives, but won't support them when used with an Audigy.
2. For the price of one of their overrated "livedrives" (without soundcard), I could buy a Gametheatre XP with a breakout box and all connections that a livedrive has for cheaper.
3. I've seen hardware decoders such as the midiland ADS2000 cheaper than their stupid live drives.
4. I am pissed at Creative for ripping me off

Odd their not selling one for the Audigy. Did they ever start selling them with the black bezel? Last I knew they was going for around $100.00.

I'd love to do that if I could. BUT: I'm 15. I dont have a credit card or a paypal account. My father will NEVER let me use ebay cuz he "doesn't trust it". Very good plan though.
