My Audigy was working fine with the latest hacked Audigy2 drivers from here. I then installed Tomb Raider:Angel of Darkness, which claimed it updated DX9.0a (which I already had installed) & also installed EAX Unified 1.0 (when I had 2.06 already there); so I'm not sure which one did it, but the whole thing is after the reboot my PC (via Dxdiag) thinkgs the Audigy is "Emulated" & can't see what drivers it is using!
Then all my other games won't work at all (I guess they won't without sound) Gothic2 Neverwinter nights Star Trek Elite Force II & others all won't work after this. I tried uninstalling the drivers & then took out the card & replaced it, installed bacis driver from Audigy cd & updated them to the latest offical (.283) Audigy1 drivers. but still get this "emulated" deal. Any help would be appreciated, since I'm stuck with no games working becuase of that Tomb Raider ![]() From Dxdiag: " Description: Emu10Kx Audio [E000] (emulated) Default Sound Playback: Yes Default Voice Playback: Yes Hardware ID: PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0004&SUBSYS_00511102&REV_03 Manufacturer ID: 1 Product ID: 100 Type: Emulated Driver Name: Driver Version: Driver Attributes: WHQL Logo'd: Date and Size: Other Files: Driver Provider: Creative HW Accel Level: Full Cap Flags: 0x0 Min/Max Sample Rate: 0, 0 Static/Strm HW Mix Bufs: 0, 0 Static/Strm HW 3D Bufs: 0, 0 HW Memory: 0 Voice Management: No EAX(tm) 2.0 Listen/Src: No, No I3DL2(tm) Listen/Src: No, No Sensaura(tm) ZoomFX(tm): No Registry: OK Sound Test Result: Not run" |

I'm no expert on the Audigy2 hacked driver set .. although I am running them on my SB live.
Necrosis is the Audio Guru not me. But it does sound like TR (un)hacked your Audigy2 set. You may have to use a drivercleaner to remove all reminants of those drivers and redo the hack procedure. Spike has created a great one on his forum here on DH ... As a rule of thumb I never allow a program installation to update DX versions etc. Not sure if you had a choice or were prompted first .... But I always maintain these things myself... Sorry I couldn't help more There is a thread for feedback on Audigy2 hack problems ... you might try there There are peeps that know a lot more about this than I do on there Good Luck !!!

Cheers Mac Daddy,
It now appears it is something more then that, since I re-enable my onboard Via'97 sound sound just to see: it installed fine but yet again in Dxdiag the via sound device was "emulated" & thus all my games won't work!! I'm getting pretty frantic now! I don't know how all my sound devices are now suddendly "emulated", since they worked yesterday! Damn Tom raider & its install Hopefully someone here will know how to "turn off" this "emulated" thing since it is far beyond my humble know-how! I could even live with going back to the via onboard if it would just work! |

You could even start a thread on it asking about DX9 un-installation utilities .... I'm sure someone on DH would know Short of re-installing your OS anyway Might be a good first alternative![]() Cheers are most gratiously returned .................. Good luck M8ty !!!!!

Aye, that might be a good idea! Since I defintely don't want to have to reinstall my OS (hastily X's fingers!). thanks again for your suggestion
![]() EDIT: Found one after several searches...will try it now The infuriating thing is that the Tomb Raider game is quite happy with "emulated" cards, just every over game isn't!!

The uninstaller worked...but everything is still "Emulated".
anyone know of this type of thing? Maybe a reg entry needs to be changed/deleted?? I hope so...

I'm assuming that you installed dx9.0a and eax unified by accident then? I say this, because I too have installed Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness, and once the main game is installed a menu appears afterwards asking if you'd like to install them or not. So obviously I unticked both (already have them), clicked finish, and played the game nps... maybe you skipped past it without realising, but the option to opt out of installing them is definitely there.

that is probably what happened...even so I wouldn't expect the whole area of Direct Sound to be messed up after the fact. I am now really just looking for a way to fix the problem!
Ran Dxdiag again & noticed this: --------------------- Sound Capture Devices --------------------- Description: SB Audigy Audio [E400] Default Sound Capture: Yes Default Voice Capture: Yes Driver Name: ctaud2k.sys Driver Version: 5.12.0001.0323 (English) Driver Attributes: Final Retail Date and Size: 11/25/2002 13:02:24, 496752 bytes Cap Flags: 0x0 Format Flags: 0x0 So it can recognise the drivers & hardware in some sections (notice it doesn't say [Emulated] there, so to me it looks like some registry entry changed somewhere to change all audio to emulated. Does that make any sense? Any way to reverse it? Last edited by Sasco; Jul 5, 2003 at 04:37 PM. |

This makes one suggestion about "emulated" Perhaps all devices that are not the preferred device (in Multimedia), are emulated |
