Audigy 1 SB0160 best driver + Creative software pkg 4 XP SP3? Still modable to A4?
I have had a Audigy 1 SB0160 for many years now. I was previously using creatives drivers, with none of the addtional software, because I didn't know it would work on my card, as the support site said I needed the applications already installed, which this OEM card didn't come with.
I had a Live! card before that and loved the midi soundfont features, and EAX stuff, as well as the "what you hear" recording option. I knew about the kx EMU101-102k drivers a few years back, but just recently discovered the creative modding scene. I currently am using Daniel_K Audigy driver support pack from his blog. All the included apps work properly. Daniel_K Most of the features I had with the Live! card are in that pack, namely: * Audio console * Surround Mixer * EAX console * SoundFont Manager * Speaker Selection Features that the Live card never had. * CMSS, CMSS2 * EQ It lacks an application I'd love to use again. * Creative sound recorder with the "what you hear" recording input option There was also the playcenter 3 app on the live card, but that app was buggy, and many CD ripping/playing apps are much better and faster now. I have read quite a few threads about Audigy "series card" to A4 modding, but am still quite confused if the A4 mod is applicable to the audigy 1 when using newer drivers. Here are my questions. If anyone can answer all, or even one of them, it would help greatly. * Can this be done with my card? * What applications exactly are available after this mod? * Is this modding to A4 method now largely obsolete, due to better "custom" creative software packages? * If a better and or newer custom creative software package/modding method is out, what thread do I need to read to find it? * Can the A1 be "modded" to work with X-Fi apps? * Is there a single "compilation" software package that can be installed on "ALL" audigy series cards to get all the creative software i had with the Live! card, regardless of driver used? If only "older" drivers are compatible with the A4 mod, I'm cool with that as I'm only really concerned about getting the best sound while I'm listening to music watching DVDs, and gaming, and of course system stability. The only real recording feature i ever used was the "what you hear" one for random web clips, so I didn't have re-encode from all the various audio formats. I will likely never use any pro-recording features that the kx drivers provide, and therefore will ask they be not be included in your suggestions, unless they have similar music listening features, and game compatibility. Here's a list of things I already understand. * Proper uninstalltion methods, including using Driver Cleaner.NET in safe mode * Any "modded" driver may have unknown bugs, and some software may be incompatible with my card even though it will install after it is modded. * There are several modded drivers, such as youp pax, Daniel_K. * Some drivers need specific patches after installtion to fix problems on certain cards. * All your help here is voluntary, and on your free time, according to your schedule. Here is a list of threads I have already read a great portion of. Moddified Audigy 4 Pro ISO is out! Download is now available Pax Audigy Software Suite Spring Edition 2009 YouP-PAX-A4v3.5(PFMOD)FIX 2007 edition Guide: How to install YouP Audigy4 drivers/software Thanks again for the help!! If anyone needs PS2 homebrew related help, I'm on psx-scene quite often, and can help if you post questions there. Last edited by blasted_sound; Aug 25, 2009 at 05:55 AM. |
