Default Post Use X-FI SB0250 Front Panel with SB Live CT4830 or Audigy 1 (ES) SB0160?

Ok, may goal is to get this X-fi panel's analog ports to work with one of the two cards.
I have read that this might not be possible in the following thread.

Quoting dj_stick from this thread

Aud. 1 Ext drive bay on Aud. 2 zs problem

"ok this *can* work, but not completely

any of the analogue inputs (line/mic 2 and aux 2) will not work, and neither will the headphones, do to the internal sample rate differences (the converters on the Audigy 2 use 96khz as opposed to 48khz on the live/audigy 1 series and their attachments)

the digital/spdif I/O will most likely work, as will the MIDI

what you will need is a whole lot of single connection cables (i tend to use the same sort of cables that used to come with generic cases with 1 pin for each connction on the front panel header)

and you will need to match up the following pinouts correctly, ie OUT on the EX drive to IN on the audigy 2 and vice versa:

http://driverheaven.net/audio-genera...i-pinouts.html

use the AUD_EXT header for the audigy EX drive, and AD_EXT for the audigy 2."

The Audigy 1 im using is EMU10k2x based, and was sold without software at PC shops, as well as preinstalled in OEM PCs.

I was only able to get a driver from creative site for this card. There may be some software that I don't have that can flip a switch to make this work.

The SB Live has not been tested yet as I figured it may be even less likely to work.
Since seeing the modded drivers and open source kx drivers, I may be wrong about this.

Here is what I have done so far.

Used a 40 pin unblocked IDE cable to connect the X-Fi front panel to the Audigy, as well as floppy power cable to the front panel.

Here is what happens.
The optical out light turns on when PC posts, but goes off when windows XP boots.
I have a PS2 that I can test the optical in port with, but I can see no way of selecting it in the "Creative Audio Console", or the XP sound hardware control panels.

If anyone can help guide me to what I may try to get this working with either card, let me know.

I also would love to know if anyone has found which modded driver and creative software bundle for this Audigy is the most stable for games and enables the stuff like using the Audigy4 and or X-fi apps.

Thanks tons in advance.

Here are the resources I've already read:

kX-project support site electronics

Aud. 1 Ext drive bay on Aud. 2 zs problem

Creative Audigy 2 AD_EXT pin assignment

Soundblaster Live!, Audigy 1/2 and X-Fi* Pinouts

If you have a PS2 hacking questions I'd be happy to help if you post at the psx-scene. That's the only way I can think to pay back you great people who have donated so much time to make creatives stuff work correctly.

the analogue connections will not work, as the Audigy is designed for a 48khz I2S signal coming from the Audigy Drive, while the Audigy 2/4/X-Fi Drive is at 96Khz

Thanks dj_stick!
I will post results whether the optical in/out and midi in/out works in a few days. Just realized I sold off the last toslink cable I had a while ago. I'll also have to borrow a friends midi keyboard.

In regards to the second question of which modded driver and software package is best for giving me access to the features of an A4 with my Audigy, (if possible) could you point me in the right direction?

There are so many files and versions to sort through I'm gettin overwhelmed and confused.
I'm using XP MCE SP3

I saw on another post that you made that you have/had the same card I do at one point.
I mostly listen to music and occasional gaming. I'm not looking to do stuff like multi-track recording etc. Thanks again!
