According to one of the unofficial sites, even though these are "WinXP", they work with 98SE/ME as well (WDM).
Is this true?

Well, wdm drivers should work with all Windows OSs, but there's no way for me to be sure. If you want to risk having to reformat, you can always be the guinea pig...

I wonder if GOBACK would be tough enough to fix it if it blew up?
Reference: http://alive.singnet.com.sg/drivers/ Perhaps I'd be safer with a less exotic option??? Card is a CT4780 (Live Value, not 5.1) Not 100% certain, also called Live value digital 1024 - has extra J1 connector to left of audio ones at top edge - no idea what it's for. Currently using a SB PCI 128 - after retiring an ISA model (SB16 MCD ASP plus "Waverider" addon) due to ISA slot shortage before my last upgrade.

.wdm drivers work just peachy under 9x/me as long as they're installed as a fresh install. Upgrading .vxd drivers to .wdm drivers will either work fine or will so horribly screw up your install that you'll be forced to reformat and reinstall everything.
I played with it once long ago...never again.

I saw that somewhere else, and already screwed up the SBPCI 128 drivers the same way - it ain't pretty!
Currently running WDM for that - I just hope those drivers don't need an abnormal amount of removal before upgrading the card. I guess I should allow it to reboot and complete removal of the 128, before fitting the LIVE. Whenever I take shoutcuts, skip reboots etc., I usually regret it! - and forget it again by next time ![]() I'm tempted to try and use WindowsUpdate for drivers - if it hasn't already been turned off for Win98SE - as a reasonable WDM driver seems to be reported to exist on there!
