Creative X-Fi, vista 64bit & Windows 7 64bit problem

Ok folks, this is my first post here I tried searching for a solution... but cant seem to find one.

system specs as follows:

ASUS M2N SLI Deluxe
AMD64 x2 5200+
8800GTS in SLI
4GB Corsair XMS
and the dang X-Fi gamer card (model SB073A)

Ok, now in windows XP (32bit) everything is just fine and dandy, sound works fine, 5.1 works fine... etc

I have tried two fresh installs of Windows 7 64bit and then tried Vista 64bit and I get the same problem:

The sound from my rear two speakers is coming from the front two, when i goto the creative console, click the individual speakers, I get sound from the front speakers when its only supposed to be coming from an individual rear speaker.... and again, this is in both vista and 7.
**the analog connections are in the proper inputs**

please point me in the right direction, I have been messing with this for the past couple days now, and I am getting a little tired

thanks!

Your drivers up to date? If not I would try that first...
