Shure SE530 Sound Isolating Earphones

These aren't new but I finally heard them today in a local hi fi store and I was blown anyway.

Anyone else ever had the pleasure of using these in ear phones? I know that they won't compare to high end full sized headphones but I don't find them that practical for moving around when im working or on planes etc.

Re: Shure SE530 Sound Isolating Earphones

I'm really tempted to try some in-ear phones out and get a set. I've got a nice set of Grado cans, but they don't travel, so I'm stuck with my dinky earbuds whenever I'm not in my house.

The Cnet review glanced on the wires; my biggest worry is how rough I am on the wires for the earphones I travel with, I don't want to blow the cash on these to have them conk out after 6 months. Did you have the chance to check out the wires at the store?

Wow - a local hi-fi store - so rare any more...

Shure has always be my fave when it come to mics and phono cartridges - their micro-engineering has always been some of the best in the world.

Never had the pleasure of listening to their earphones though...

You may want to look into the sennheiser IE8's they have detachable and replaceble leads. http://www.sennheiser.com/sennheiser...product=500772 I don't think the sound is right up there with the Shure's though.

Grado? those are lovely. a rich friend of mine has their high end GS1000i phones GS1000 but they cost almost £1000 and as you say, I like my portability. Would be lovely for the house though.

You should check what kind of warranty they give with these earphones. I know that Koss gives lifetime warranty for some of their products, hopefully Shure offers something reassuring as well.

Its only 2 years I think. probably due to the abuse portable headphones receive. Its another downside of buying something so expensive, you have to treat them extra special. At least you get a specialised case for them for storage and on flights etc.

Well then I guess that Zelig will have to be extra nice to them and if the wires do break after over two years, soldering time. :P I'd love a chance to hear them. (I doubt that anyone even imported those in my country though...)

Look pretty good here if I see them locally will have to try them out. I have always had good luck with Shure. I have my SM-58 so I don't have to deal with sound companies beer and smoke reeking microphones ... and still have my Shure true diversity wireless system I used when I was gigging regularly

I've had to re-solder the cable on my Sony MDR-V6 cans three times in the last three years - they don't leave the studio now

for on the go I use my Sennheiser HD-25s, not exactly portable, but they sound great. I've got a pair of cheap nike in ear/neckphone style buds for exercising though, they sound a little better than the stock buds that came with my iPhone, but they're still crap i nterms of audio quality

I've been looking at getting a pair of IEM (in-ear monitors) for a while, but I haven't been able to justify the cost yet

Re: Shure SE530 Sound Isolating Earphones

well I bought a pair of these (ouch) and im (thankfully) well impressed, very impressive soundstaging. Very critical of poor recordings but thats to be expected. Acoustic guitar, vocals and orchestra work is stunning with the right source material. 320kbit MP3s are distinguishable from lower end bit rates too.

Re: Shure SE530 Sound Isolating Earphones

I heard the shures in a hifi shop and I was blown away. would love them but I dont think id take them anywhere, imagine if you lost these in an airport or something !

They make great professional audio equipment too. my dad has several shure microphones.
