Soundblaster Live Player 5.1 OEM (SB0220)

Hi to everyone you will soon see that I have no experience with sound cards at all. I hope that this is the right place to post these questions.

All of my previous computers had built in sound as does my present one.
I have bought a second hand CREATIVE SOUND BLASTER SB0220 LIVE 5.1 DIGITAL
It cost me £3 which I think was a barging, anyway I knew that it might be a problem getting drivers ( for £3 I didn't expect to get a setup disc).

I think that I have found the right drivers but I'm a bit confused by what I read on the Creative site, after the description of my card it has Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Digital (Dell). I also read some where that some manufacturers of computers use sound cards that are specific to them.

First question: Will this card work with my Asus A8N-VM m/b.

Second question: if first is yes. If I plug this card in will it disable the onboard sound for me.

Third question: I an hoping that I can find the manual for this card, if I can't,
where do the 3 connections on card go.

And last (There might be more later). What's the right way to install the drivers.

Zeroth answer: No Vista drivers, except kX.

1. Yes.
2. Maybe, depends on the BIOS. You can go into BIOS and choose whichever you prefer.
3. What three connections? I have the same card, not sure what you refer to. You have Front, Rear and Center/LFE.
4. Go here for drivers: Creative Worldwide Support > Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Digital (Dell)

Alternatively, try kX. I prefer it to official drivers.

Thanks for your reply RIV@NVX.

The connections are marked TAD AUX IN and CD_SPDIF.
I presume these connections go to conections on the m/b I will have to work where they go when I open up.

What is kx is it alternative drivers instead or creatives, if so any idea what I should look for.

you don't need to use those connections, they've got no real application these days

Am I right in thinking that the card I have which is a
CREATIVE SOUND BLASTER SB0220 LIVE 5.1 DIGITAL (Dell) is not supported by kX...

It IS supported by kX. There was older Dell OEM card that didn't work, but this one does.
