looking for a new soundcard
Hello. This is my first post, so, hi everybody! Im a gamer/wannabe musician, and am currently looking for a new soundcard. My ancient SoundBlaster Live! (value) lost the speaker output (along with the speakers I guess) some time ago due to a brief power outage, and only the Live! Drive II panel works properly. I like that panel. I need it to comfortably plug in my guitars and headphones. This brings me to my question: what newer soundcard is compatible with the Live Drive, or, is there some sort of alternative? A soundcard that ideally comes with a front panel with regular (non mini) jack inputs maybe? My motherboard has free PCI and PCI express slots. Any and all upgrade suggestions welcome.

Re: looking for a new soundcard
that may be difficult finding something that is still capable with that specific panel.... aside from going on ebay and getting an identical card to match.
Someone else is likely to have the answers. But considering your wish being able to use those, i would first look at auzentech, see if they have anything....

Re: looking for a new soundcard
The Live Bay is not compatible with the later revisions that use the bays I'm afraid. Personally I would look at something like this for your needs, I use a similar card for music production although mine is internal:
Turnkey - Europe's Leading Music Technology Supplier Around £100 Or there'sa PCI model with twin 1/4" jack inputs, this is the model I use at home: Turnkey - Europe's Leading Music Technology Supplier £60. I paid nearly £120 for it ages ago ![]() Mike |

Do a brief search in kX forum, I believe there was a long discussion what cards are compatible with Live! drive. Can't remember the exact name of the thread. Maybe you can find OEM or bulk Live! or Live! 5.1 or maybe even Audigy that will be able to user the drive, and will cost really cheap. Not to mention support by kX.
