does anybody know any good music creation programs? im very new to this, know almost nothing about it, but what i believe im looking for is a sequencer, something with built in "instruments" that i can mix up songs with using a piano or even just a mouse. something thats easy to use/learn would be nice.

also, id appriciate if someone could just explain to me the whole digital music creation process. what i need, how to do it, ect.

generally most sequencers (other than logic) come with mediocre instruments, the best ones are third party VST/AU plugins

i agree with dj_stik, if you really want to get strated into music production, you have to get your hands dirty... nothing comes easy... depending on what kind of music you would like to do, there are all kinds of different programs (and VST plugins) for the job.

for example, most people i know that produce dnb or jungle, use FL Studio, it has a dirty kind of way of exporting the tracks, which most of the dnb and jungle fans and producers like (that is not what the creators of FL Studio wanted to achieve, but that is the best export engine they could come up with... which is much worse that Cubase). most of the techno stuff are done in Logic or ACID... as i said, the program that you use depends on what kind of music you plan to produce...

and im probably more interested in techno, light electronic and mebbe even classical (for my game soundtracks) sound quality is a little more important... im picky that way. but i would like good classical music proformance, with good keyboard input ability-ness

ive heard of ACID, but logic is only for mac i thought. i have a friend who owns it, so ill try it out

and is there a cubase free trial i can download?

i think not, but don't take my word for it... i think you can only order the package, and the package comes with an installation DVD (for Cubase Studio 4) and a USB dongle (protection key).
