How to enable Dolby hardware decoding in Creative xfi Xtreme Gamer
I bought the creative xtreme music when xfi first came out for use in my htpc. I connected the sound card with my creative gigaworks s750 speakers to watch movies on my 42 inch plasma.
After the xtreme music died. I went out and bought creative xtreme gamer(as xtreme music was no longer around) without realizing that xtreme gamer did not hardware decode dolby.
Since the replacement of xtreme music with xtreme gamer; I have always had a problem with the clarity of dialogue in movies.
It was only a few days ago that i stumbled upon this issue of "hardware vs softwer" decode of dolby sound in creative sound cards while reading about daniel K fiasco., So now like any audio head, i desperately want hardware decoded sound from my xtreme gamer sound card for dvd's in my htpc.
As per release notes of the new xfi drivers (see below), I won't have hardware decoded dolby sound even, if i install the new drivers released by creative which supposingly allow hardware decoded sound as i own xtreme gamer.
Sound Blaster X-Fi Series with DVD-Audio Playback and Dolby Digital/DTS Decoding
So is there any moded driver out there which can help me get hardware decoded dolby sound from my xfi xtreme gamer sound card.
Thankyou in advance.

Did you even try my driver set? You might have go back to XP decorder only for that I don't know if your card would work on vista with that card.

iirc, there is no hardware decoding, it's all done in software by the driver software (if available)

Re: How to enable Dolby hardware decoding in Creative xfi Xtreme Gamer
If there is no hardware decoding than why does it matter if we use powerdvd decoder or creatives own software decoder

Re: How to enable Dolby hardware decoding in Creative xfi Xtreme Gamer
It is driver level decoding of DTS/DD so you should set the DTS/DD decoding on on the Audio Console. And then send the DTS/DD audio to SPDIF. At least I got it working like that when I was on XP and had X-Fi eXtreme Music.

Re: How to enable Dolby hardware decoding in Creative xfi Xtreme Gamer
1. Well I had that configuration in the cretives own tool that was used to adjust the EQ and stuff... There were menu that was about DD and DTS...
2. In the programs like PoverDVD has it in the audio configuration.
3. SPDIF = Sony Philips Digital Interface Format. S/PDIF ? Wikipedia

Re: How to enable Dolby hardware decoding in Creative xfi Xtreme Gamer
No matter what i do. i have tried daniel k drivers as well as drivers by robert but i still cannot see an option of dolby decoder in my audio console. It leads me to beleive that probably xtreme gamer doesn't have dolby hardware decoding.
Can anybody confirm.
