Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer with Daniel_K driver
Ok so I bought the card yesterday merely because I'm not patient enough to wait a week for an Auzentech card to ship (locally I could not find a single 'real' audio card that was not made by CL).
After a bit if fiddling I got the DDL pack working (had to get an older version as the first DL I found apparently requires some sort of registration to activate) but there are a few problems that perhaps you guys could help me work out.
I have the card hooked up to my home theater system via optical cable.
Problems:
1. When in DDL mode, the subwoofer does not sound like its being used. If I disable DDL it quite audibly begins thumping again.
2. DDL-enabled, audio sounds almost overdriven even with SVM enabled. (I'm assuming this is related to the lack of sub-woofer use as the overdriven sound I am referring to occurs on what would be strong bass beats).
3. Bass redirection does nothing with DDL enabled.
If we can figure out a quick solution to these I'll keep the Creative card, but if nothing can be remedied soon I'll just return it to Best Buy and go ahead waiting a week for Newegg to ship an Auzen card.
Thanks in advance guys!

Rob - I will look into your mods now
Mike - Creative doesn't support more than 2 channel output digitally which is why I am using these modded drivers in the first place

I got impatient and just ordered the Auzentech card going to return my Creative one soon as this one arrives.
Do you have anything that might work with this new card?

It's not a connector issue - the CL drivers simply don't have a way of outputting more than 2 channels digitally.
Hence the Daniel_K driver hack that allowed Dolby Digital Live to be enabled via drivers from the Auzentech card.
On a side note, I got the Auzen card today and it doesn't sound any different... with DDL enabled it doesn't sound like the subwoofer is getting a signal, and the main speakers sound horribly overdriven...

My first post and found this thread by google - so apologies if a more recent thread is dealing with this again... please link me to it if so...
It seems Creative have now just released their own update to enable DDL on Xfi cards ($4.72 from Creative site) ... Creative Labs
So this does the same as the daniel k crack and makes 5.1 able to be run through the soundcard to an amp and speakers.
Where I need help is what kind of cable I need... I assumed it was a toslink optical 3.5 to optical sqaure like this Creative Labs: Products - X-Fi, Sound Blaster, MP3 Players, Speaker Systems, Web Cameras
So I got one and plugged it into my flexijack and switched via software from mic/line-in to Digital IO... but I get nothing through my amp and speakers... help?
Is it a different cable I need that is actually a 3.5 stereo jack to square toslink? Or should my soundcard have an optical 3.5 connector instead of the 3.5 flexijack? confused...

Re: Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer with Daniel_K driver
for the subwoofer problem, you need to disable full range mode for your satellites. for vista, its under control panel>sound>playback>speakers>configure. make sure to untick both boxes (front and surround).
