Question about External USB STick SOund cards...
I have a DESKTOP PC, built into my car, which I put into my car awhile ago. I have been using a TAPE deck to audio jack cable so I can play my music/movies and whatever else through the speakers of my car from the computer. I got a new radio, with CD player, and aux in and USB in. So what I did was hook the Jack cable from my Audio out port on the MBOARD to the AUX in port on the radio, when I went to select AUX IN, it fried the stereo. The reason that happened is when I put the radio in, I reversed the BATTERY IN and the ACC IN wires to the radio, that has been fixed, and I had to get a new radio but unfortunately my sound card on my MBOARD has been burnt, and my friend awhile ago BROKE MY DANG PCI ports on the board. SO What I did was order a USB stick Audio card for my PC, this one:
Newegg.com - StarTech ICUSBAUDIO 2 Channels USB Interface Audio Adapter - Sound Cards Now will this put out decent sound to the Radio so i can get decent loud sound through the car again or no?

1) I think you posted to the wrong forum... this one would have been better, as most here have Soundblaster Live or Audigy...
2) for $15 US - if its not very good, at least your not out a lot of cash ![]() I suspect it could be ok enough - but I also doubt the codecs are 'high quality' - but even mediocre these days is better than the first sound blasters... so... as long as it supports 44Khz / 16 bit playback - you should be ok, based on some one at newegg stating it sounded better than his laptops headphone out... ?? but that doesn't speak about how 'hot' the outputs are either. |

Well we shall see. It comes tomorrow, it's kind of nice having a NEWEGG warehouse in the same state you live in, but the taxes hurt though.

you should get a decent result out of that little USB interface, nothing stellar, but it won't be subjected to the internal electrical noise of your computer, so that's always a plus

Actually I got around that, I grounded the case of the computer to the negative of the battery (I have two, one in the back and one in the hood.) No interference
The Tape to jack wasn't bad quality, I am concerned about volume, it's coming today I missed it yesterday and forbid they leave the package at my doorstop, i always forget to put a sign up, so I will tell you what happens.
