Headset and speakers simultaneous?
Is it possible to have sound from the headset and speakers simultaneously?
So what I want to do is; chat from Ventrilo is coming through the headphones and I can talk through the microphone. This headset is connected to the on-board soundcard, with a USB-connector. While music is playing through the speakers, which are connected to my soundcard. I have tried everything to my knowledge but I can't get it working the way I want. Does anyone know if this is even possible?

The USB headset is it self and audio device so it don't send the sound to the integrated audio chip. So you need to configure the sound out from your music player to be the on-board sound chip, if you have winamp in use that can be done easily in the output options.

lmao. i mtrying to do just the opposite(kinda). all the sound(mucis or vent) goes through my front main speakers when using headset & none goes thru headset. so far creative has been no help. big surprise there.

This is one reason i really like Realtek's HD audio and vista:
In the realtek audio manager, the setting to "simultaneously stream audio through back and front audio as seperate devices" option turns the single sound device into 2 completely independant audio devices. One made specifically for headsets and the other for speakers. then in vent.. just select the audio device 2 headset/mic2 and volla.... music/games through speakers and ts/vent/skype through headset. Usually USB headsets show up as thier own sound device.... through the sound devices options, for mic set the usb for default... and then in the program such as vent, set the speaker to the usb headset...

Unsure but I think this can be done with the KX driver set from this website and your creative device.

In vista.... there is no EAX, however Realtek just launched a new driver package that augments the current one with full eax 5.0 (saposedly)

kx doesnt suport xfi & proly never will.
im leaning more to using onboard audio(it wil be 1st time ever as everytime ive tried before i have been underwhelmed with sound quality.. & issues). so far creative has been unable to come up with a 'fix' *& doesnt look like they are going to. one tech actually told me to not use the optical(wich is main reason i got card) & to use line level outputs instead. i tried it for shts & giggles & i/o headphone jack still doesnt rerout sound.
