Welcome to DH!
Did you try the standalone update released a couple days ago? Give that a shot and see what you get.

Stand-alone, as in, not through windows update.
Follow the link above, select you card type and OS information on the forms, and download the driver. Install it, and see what you get. Before doing so, you may want to uninstall your current driver (most likely through the "add/remove software" program in Windows Controll Panel.), or you can remove it using drivercleaner, if you have it.
At any rate, it's the most recent X-fi driver available, and just might fix your problem. Goodl luck, and keep us posted.

I think that Vikinggod means this
[EDIT] And for side note it's not recommended to download any drivers from windows update. I've heard that many people has similar issues when using it to update drivers. So I always use the manufacturers drivers.

you'll have to go through either the start menu to find the creative sound blaster driver uninstall or through add and remove programs to see if there is a listing there... this should wipe the system clean of the drivers..

Judas I think he still got the driver from MS update hiding in the driver.cab boot into safe mode and run the DC's cab cleaner.

what does OEM means exactly?
-i have an installation cd from creative delivered with it and if i go to the dell site and downloaded the drivers. Then you get a OEM webupdate.
There has to be a way to remove all the files that came with win update?

OEM = Original equipment manufacturer
BTW. Did you used the cab cleaner? It cleans the SP2.cab and driver.cab, they are used to storage of drivers windows own drivers if my memory serves me right. And it will not remove installed drivers. But you could just open the Device manager and uninstall the driver from there and then run the cab cleaner...

ok maybe i should i try that.
Do i have to uninstall only that driver in device manager? Or is the best thing uninstall everything including console etc. etc.
What i just noticed @ windows update that drivercleaner has removed a piece of this driver:
Creative - Sound - Creative X-Fi Audio Processor (WDM)
Creative Sound sofware update released in June, 2007\
but not everything
