Need Creative X-Fi Extreme Audio PCI-Express WinXP drivers
Hey all,
Can any of you make me an ISO image of your Creative X-Fi Extreme Audio PCI-Express sound card driver CD and send me the download link for it where you uploaded it. I am so disgusted with Creative right now with driver support for this card so if any of you can provide me with some help it would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Micah |

A new X-fi driver was release a couple days ago, you may want to give the creative website a look to download it.

I am afraid that Creative Labs does not have newer driver updates for the X-fi Xtreme Audio pci-e, which is quite new. The newest driver should be on the install disc which should be included with the card when purchased.
Creative Labs has the driver for the older Xtreme audio pci (Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Pack 1.04.0078 - date: 4 oct 2007), which may not be suitable (may not install at all) for your pci-e version of the Xtreme Audio if the cards are equipped with different sound chips. Good luck! Last edited by temeteus82; Mar 30, 2008 at 01:21 PM. Reason: removed the white color in the post |

Hello,
Thanks Vikingod and tcman for your help. I do appreciate it. I'm sorry to say that the X-Fi Extreme Audio drivers for the PCI version don't work with the PCI-Express version. It gives me an "unsupported device" error on install. I've lost my driver CD so I can't use the drivers from it, so right now I'm stuck until Creative posts some drivers for it on their website, or I can get a driver CD ISO image from somebody that has this card. This is a very good card. |

If someone can show me how to rip a copy of the disk and create an ISO of it, I'll do it for you, though I don't have any way to bypass any DRM that may be included on the disk.

Alcohol 52% Free Edition. I just ordered a couple of driver CDs from Creative last week and am expecting to recieve them by Friday. You really don't need to make me an ISO image, but you could go ahead and make one and upload it just in case somebody else needs a driver CD for the Card. Your driver CD shouldn't be copyprotected. Thanks for the offer of help. |

Hey, based on what I read, can I use this app to make images of my games so I don't have to put the disks in every time I want to play it? :P

Use X-Fi Xtreme Audio Notebook drivers
I had the same problem with the X-Fi PCI-e card with windows XP. I managed to get the card working by using the "X-Fi Xtreme Audio Notebook" drivers which you can get from the creative website.
However, you can't install the drivers using the setup.exe since since the software won't be able to detect the card. You have to install the drivers manually through device manager. For the "newbies" reading this: Use winzip to unzip the driver .exe contents to a temp directory. Eg c:\temp Right click on "My Computer" - Properties -> Hardware tab -> Device Manager Under "Sounds, video and game controllers" - Select the device - Right Click and go to "properties" - Drivers Tab -> Update Drivers Can windows connect to windows update and search for software? - No, not this time What do you want the wizard to do? - Click: Install from a list or specific location (advanced) Please choose your search and installation options: - Click: Don't search. I will choose the driver to install. Select the device driver you want to install for this hardware: - Click "Have disk" - Go to c:\temp\Drivers\Driver\WinXP\bin - Select t3.inf - Hit "Open' then "OK" Un-select "Show compatible hardware" checkbox (!!! Important !!) Under Manufacturer select: Creative Technology Ltd Under Model Select: SB Xtreme Audio Notebook Click "Next" Click "Finish" Reboot your computer. Go to control panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices -> Audio tab -Select "SB Xtreme Audio Notebook" as default device - Hit "OK" - Enjoy listening to your crappy audigy card that has been rebadged as a X-Fi Xtreme Audio. - List the item on eBay and try to off-load it so some sucker so you can buy yourself a "Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro". |

the pci-e xfi isn't even an audigy - like some of the cheaper "audigy" options, it doesn't even use hardware acceleration

Re: Need Creative X-Fi Extreme Audio PCI-Express WinXP drivers
Hi, I'm new here so please go easy!!
I just updated to a new machine & found the onboard sound (SoundMAX) causes clicking stuttering etc (in Silent Hunter III) & although this can be fixed by changing the "Hardware Acceleration" to nil you lose half the sounds & quality sucks!! So after fiddling with bios settings/drivers etc for a few days I gave up, I then purchased an X-fi Xtreme PCI-E card only to find that on installing from the original disk all I get is "Unsupported Device", I then tried woox200sx's idea however their is only a Vista folder no WinXP, I think they changed it or something, could someone upload or give advise please.![]() Many thanks. |

Re: Need Creative X-Fi Extreme Audio PCI-Express WinXP drivers
Well isn't it always the way that once you join a forum & post you get things going!!
![]() Well the original disk is useless, Vista only, woox200sx's solution worked, I must add though the file that you need is found this way: go here: Creative Worldwide Support > X-Fi Xtreme Audio Notebook then at the bottom select: English Windows XP All then Submit, select the top one (Driver). I had a "Serious Error & Application must close" error but still went through and works, and what do you know, no more stutters in SH3!!! ![]() ![]() Cheers. |

Re: Need Creative X-Fi Extreme Audio PCI-Express WinXP drivers
But Xonar is way better card... the only reason can think of to buy Creative PCI-E X-Fi is because of HDA compatibility, so it should theoretically be easier to make it work under various OSes such as FreeBSD and Linux. PCI X-Fi is overpriced junk, it's basically the same thing as everything else CA0106-based.

Re: Need Creative X-Fi Extreme Audio PCI-Express WinXP drivers
If someone ever read this old thread; i have made a .mdf file for the original cd of Extreme Audio PCIe version on rapidshare. It works with Vista and XP. It does NOT work with PCI version. For PCI version you can download from the link posted by someone above.
For rapidshare member, 345mb http://rapidshare.com/files/23638464...eAudioPCIe.zip For non-member, split into 4 files http://rapidshare.com/files/238203043/X-Fi_XA_PCIe.z01 http://rapidshare.com/files/238225161/X-Fi_XA_PCIe.z02 http://rapidshare.com/files/238259149/X-Fi_XA_PCIe.z03 http://rapidshare.com/files/238280614/X-Fi_XA_PCIe.zip This file shall last until i give up rapidshare : ) I have been searching this driver CD for long and can't get even one. I get this from the MSI x58 mainboard. Yes you can download the latest driver from Creative Labs, but it is driver only and there is nowhere to download the whole CD which contains some useful (?) applications. I hope this helps. Re: Need Creative X-Fi Extreme Audio PCI-Express WinXP drivers
Driver alone is not an issue, even Creative website has that. What i did is to share the whole CD which contain all applications, which some of them are not found in Creative website. Certainly someone will need that, although not many.
I came into this thread last year to seach for CD and couldn't find the one I need. I google everywhere and couldn't get. When now i have it, i hope by sharing this will help those searching desperately like me last time. This thread is on the first page of google in search, so i just put the files here for convenience. |
