Xi-Fi Xtreme Audio notebook - No Xi-Fi chip? No asio drivers?
Is there anyone here who's a Music producer and is looking to buy into this card as an upgrade option for their notebook?
Gee, after finding this out I've opted to not get this card for my laptop. What a let down! I've the Xifi xtreme Audio sound card for my desktop pc and after looking at Creatives new product for mobility, I believed that the notebook edition would be similar in specs (even tho Creatives site doesn't suggest otherwise). But nooooo, it's nothing like it's Big brother. After looking around, which I luckily did before shelling out nearly a hundred quid for the card and a docking module which simply adds 7.1 support, I found out that this card is simply not made for music production/recording.. It's basically a re-labled Audigy 2 with some added software version of Dts - the Xifi crystaliser to give it that Xi-Fi badge. What do you expect of the Xifi range, ?? Well let me ask, whats it missing? Well No low latency for starters, Not even a Xi-Fi cpu! As found in the pci card versions! And worst of all, it relies on your Cpu to do all the work.. What a complete rip off.. What alternatives are there for a laptop with a express slot, which offers low latency Asio Support and highly ideal for Music production? Surely this cant be the only card available which fits into the xpress card slot that offers high quality audio. Sorry for the banter.. I was really hyped up about buying this card, only to find it's a let down. Last edited by DjFluidz; Nov 1, 2007 at 03:52 AM. Reason: Couple of spelling mistakes |
