SPDIF & Volume/Remote Control do not work

I was previously using a Dell PC, with Dell Media Experienc (Cyberlink Power Cinima4) and the system had a Soundblaster Audigy2 ZS.

I have recently built a new system, and I installed the Audigy 2 ZS into this new box.
When I try to use the volume controls on my remote control, or from my keyboard they do not work. I can even pause, play, stop, go back, go forward in tracks with the remote and with the keyboard controls.

I've tried ripping and installing all types of various new drivers... none seem to work. I'm not even sure what the problem would be. All of my sounds and media play just fine.

The only hint I have found is when I use the Power Cinema sofware.. when I try to change the volume .. it just flashes " SPDIF " on the screen. I can not change the volume.

I'm using an nVidia 680i series motherboard. the IEEE and HD Audio are both disabled in the bios.. and I have not connected any IEEE items to motherboard or the audigy. I am using the Green, Black, Orange outputs on the Audigy 2 ZS to a 5.1 Creative sound system. The channels all work properly when testing.

How can I disable this SPDIF, or better yet.. is this the problem.. any suggestions on how to fix this. I am thinking of reformatting the drive and seeing if that helps, but I really want to avoid that.. You know how it is when you get everything re-installed you wanted then realized that one thing doesnt work.

If it might be a codec problem, I have XP Codec Pack Installed, Divx, Xvid installed.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated... Thank you.
