creative x-fi pinout for antec lanboy case
I have a creative X-Fi (I 'm not sure if it is the audio or the gamer version) sound card and want to connect it to the front speaker/mic jacks in my antec lanboy case.
I did find the following info: Soundblaster Live!, Audigy 1/2 and X-Fi* Pinouts However, I am still having trouble. The sound card has a section of pins called "Front Panel." I am assuming I have to connect to this set of pins. Is that correct? There is only 9 pins there (one is empty) meanwhile the pinouts of the webaddress above doesn't have any section with just 9 pins. Can someone help me out? Sorry for the noobish question. |

If your X-Fi is a lowProfile card then there is a case I/O socket already on card board (just check the X-Fi User's Guide). If it's not LP card then, you have already found some information and here is some more:
![]() http://img482.imageshack.us/img482/3968/xfifpmodbq5.jpg When you DIY it, you also need to know the connector type in your case (there are Intel HD/AC'97/etc. type connectors). jiitee Last edited by jiiteepee; Feb 27, 2007 at 04:50 PM. |

I think it is low profile. And I think it is the Xtreme Gamer.
Looking through the manual I found: Quote:
Also, What is sense return? Do I need it? My computer case has the following things: FPOUT-L FPOUT-R AUD-GND RET-L RET-R MIC MIC-BIAS UPDATE: I got ot hear some things out of my headphones. It didn't sound too good though (little echos). Maybe it was only one channel too. However, when I tried to plug in my microphone I got a windows found new USB hardware message. Soon thereafter I got the blue screen of death. And my pc wouldnt boot until I removed the microphone and front USB connections. I messed things up pretty nicely. i'll wait to try again tomorow, maybe I can figure out why the connector key is in the wrong pin?????? Last edited by sddriver; Feb 27, 2007 at 07:02 PM. |

From Lanboy manual:
Connecting the Audio Ports There are seven individual wires and connectors coming from the front panel for speaker and microphone. Attach them as follows: 1. Locate the internal audio connectors on your motherboard or sound card. 2. Consult your motherboard or sound card manual for the pin-out positions. 3. Connect the MIC connector to the microphone power pin. 4. Connect the MIC-BIAS connector to the microphone input pin. 5. Connect the AUD GND connector to the ground pin. 6. Connect the FPOUT-R connector to the Front Right Speaker Out Pin. 7. Connect the FPOUT-L connector to the Front Left Speaker Out Pin. 8. Connect the RET-R connector to the Rear Right Speaker Out Pin. 9. Connect the RET-L connector to the Rear Left Speaker Out Pin. Note: If your motherboard doesn't support rear speaker output, you don't need to connect the RET-R or RET-L connectors. X-Fi FP Header: ![]() I suppose, you can't connect more than those green colored ports into X-Fi. There is no Mic-Bias port available in X-Fi socket but, if you connect the X-Fi's PORT 1R (pin #3) to the Lanboy's MIC-BIAS it perhaps may work. Some additional information: Here are some information on AC'97 and Intel HD pinouts and more: ![]() Three different connections (AsRock): The wording on the front panel connector cables may be different by each chassis manufacturer. Please check the function of each cable. Otherwise it may damage the board if cables are connected to the wrong connectors. We found that if you connect the "GND" (Ground) or "USB VCC" (USB Power) connector pins to the "+5V" pin, it will damage the motherboard after booting up the system. So we recommend you must not install any connector on the +5V pin of the Front Panel Audio header. It will not affect the Audio function if you remove the connector from the +5V pin. ![]() AC97 Dongle Schematic: ![]() Intel HDA Dongle Schematic: ![]() Some data for mic powering method used in SB card ![]() jiitee Last edited by jiiteepee; Feb 28, 2007 at 06:33 AM. |

The picture u showed with the 3 examples shows pin 9 as the connector pin. That is what I have.
However, those pins dont match the Intel HD front panel audio format. Which is what the creative x-fi manual states I have. Also, I think I may have connected the RET-L to the the +5v pin in ur example. At first I got a blue screen of death. Them my computer wouldn't boot. Then my USB mouse stoped working. I finally got it to boot and the connected the mouse to the ps2 port. Now windows says "found new USB hardware", followed by "your usb hardware is not working" all the time, even though I have no usb devices connected. |

AsRock (those examples) seems to warn 'bout that 5V connection ... maybe you burned your USB controller. Try to disable the Controller through BIOS (or device manger) to get rid of those new hardware messages.
