Audigy 2 Value does SPDIF decode?

OK, guys I have been looking around for a definative answer on this. The Audigy 2 soundcard and even my audigy 2 value has a built in hardware decoder. What I want to know is doe the Spdif input decode audio that is in these formats? So if I send a encoded signal to the Spdif does the decoder woork on this? In theory it shoudl but I have no way to test it and I have looked I need a abslute 100% definative answer. Thx for the help.

If you notice though EVERYBODY I talk to has a differnet answer. EVEN Creative Tech support. Who do I believe? I am not in a position to test it for myself yet.

While I wont pretend I have your answer... I will mention my thoughts.

MAYBE - no one wants to say difinitivly about DOLBY decoding in fear of some legal ramifications - OR, as I am finding out - there seem to be multiple 'formats' a SPDIF signal can have and possibly depends on that??

For instance - my Cable TV box - explicity says 'Dolby Digital (tm)' - but in KX, only 1 channel decodes... While my set top DVD Player, I can set it to output 'DTS' and KX decodes as AC3 just fine. So theres definitely something going on with consumer electronics/sound cards that supply these DOLBY encoded SPDIF capabilities... Just what I can't say, but assume 'legal reasons' .. ?? (even tho my DVD player has the 'Dolby' logo - but it doesn't necessarily means they used it legally - but could alco be KX or even CL too ?? - too many parties involved for me to get a good grasp on it all)

Thats all I know from my own observations. ??
