win98SE and Vxd drivers

hi...I'm new in this thread and I've checked the FAQ and all of the replies in the thread. My problem seems to be unique.

I need to run the VxD drivers on a Win98SE system. WDM is no good for me. I used the SB_install_multilang.rar with the patch file and eventually got everything working. Is this as far as I can go with WIN98SE VxD drivers?

The only file I see on Creative Asia is the 205 and it seems it only allows WDM driver install. I've looked through it and don't see any Win98SE drivers in there. Also, the button for VxD is greyed out in Ctzapxx.exe.

I have a couple of bugs. The diagnostics window has no buttons in it for input. That is, I can't get out of the window....the 'next' button is missing. Also, I'm wondering about the Vienna soundfont studio. Has anyone tried using the older version with the Audigy 2 drivers?

I notice a couple of people wondering about the error message that no recognizable drivers can be found. I solved this for VxD drivers using Ctzapxx.exe. First, do a normal install and the WDM drivers will load. If you apply the app after the install, it gives you the option to dump the WDM drivers and load VxD drivers. It then asks you to reboot. When you do, windows will intercept you on reboot and want to load drivers for you. Cancel out of this...don't let it do anything. If you cancel, windows will continue booting, and the VxD loader will automatically take over. Let it do it's thing, and it will eventually call for a reboot. Do the reboot and you should get audio with no error messages.

Also, there may be a bug in sb_install_multilang.rar. At least with my install the EAX and Mixer wouldn't work. I fixed it by going into the respective sub-directories in sb_install_multilang and expanding the data.cab files with i6comp. Then I copied all the relevant files into the EAX and Mixer sub-directories in the new install. So, if things are not working, try the same procedure.
