Default Post Diamond MX card and Linux

Not sure if I should post here or in the Linux conf (mods, feel free to move)

Have a Diamond MX200 (or is it 300!) sound card in my Linux box. Running Mandrake 8.1 distro. Have no sound. Any ideas how to get the damme thing to make a beep, or better still, full glorious stereo?

Have tried both the sound driver project s/w that came with the distro, and the (oh buggery, cant remember the name of the other project!!! ARGH!) erm, other sound project thing.... oh mother, getting old.

Well, if anyone has a clue what I am on about, and knows how to get a Diamond sound card based on the Aureal chipset to blow steam under Linux, please help!

TIA
