I want to burn my Crossfire system
Why would I do such a thing? I tried to troubleshoot with ATI over the phone, and they just referred me to emails. Okay that would be fine if I actually got support, and they read my previous emails.
Here’s the problem even with one video card in the system I was getting poor FPS in uncapped Quake 4, and various other games. Ati told me to use 3dmark 05 instead of 06 to test my FPS very funny. I only have a 500 watt power supply and the crossfire system requires 550 minimum. I've been running the system at 500 watts for a while and the crossfire setup has been performing rather poorly. My FPS did not increase when I increased the power supply to 680 watt. I booted up to fix some settings in bios. I couldn't even get into bios on my Asus A8R-MVP board anymore. My monitor wouldn't switch resolutions to the bios screen. I thought maybe one of the 1900s were bad, so I preceded to test them. I found nothing wrong with the cards at all. I then switched the monitors and still nothing helped. While switching the adaptor for the monitors on and off, one of the bolts stripped by the B on the mastercard. This was not forceful either I was using minimum pressure while unscrewing the adaptor to the monitor.
At this point I am pissed. I figured that the bios needs another flashing and proceeded to flash. That didn't help at all. So I reset cmos and reflashed. Again no improvement! At this point I realize the motherboard is bad, so I am RMAing the board. I am going with the new A8R32-MVP DELUXE, and hoping this will be the last problem I encounter.

So just to confirm, the problem is actually with the motherboard?

Yes, the problem is the motherboard and not any of the 1900 cards I hope. I will know for sure once I receive the new motherboard. Then I will test and see if I score more then 7k in 2006 3dmark.

Well I went ahead and switched the video cables and that actually fixed the bios problem. I can actually see bios now and work in setup. However I can't get Quake 4 or any other game past 4x AA. The game keeps getting a error, if I choose AA past 4x in options. I try to hardware force the AA, the game locks up the system. I have switched out the master and secondary card in the primary pci express slot. Also tryed with crossfire enabled, I am not having sucess.
At this point I am concluding that it is indeed the motherboard, unless someone more knowledgeable has a better idea. I really hope someone can help me! i am at wits end.

I say that you need good old driver cleaner and reinstall the drivers... That helps

Hmmmmmm okay well did you ever run memtest? Might sound stupid but it might just be a ram problem (though I highly doubt it but you should search every possibility no?)

I tried quake 3 and I am still getting static but however when I take a screen shot no static is showing. This is with the resolution in 1280 by 1024 with AA 8.

I think its memory timings
nothing more nothing less.
You would be supprised by how much memory timings can effect your performance. Try finding out the stock timings for your memory. Then manually put them in the bios.

I still feel that its your setup. I dont think any of the hardware is faulty. My old ATI setup was crap in crossfire mode. My ATI would do 5,650 in 3dmarks05 and as a pair I wouldnt break 8500. This was video's limits. And the fact that crossfire on these cards just sucked.

Anyone able to get Quake 4 past 8 AA software and not forced? I thought It was my board A8R-MVP. However, I am using A8R32-MVP Deluxe now. I still can't get past 4x in crossfire mode. I am using a multipule rail power supply. I know that using a multipule rail on the A8R-MVP was having issues. Wondering if it's my cards or Quake 4.
