Ati Wdm

Hello,

I purchased an ATi X850 Pro AGP video card (256MB). It was advertized that it has Wideo IN mode. This means that I can capture TV on my computer, right? I heard that I need to use ATI's WDM, but I do not know how to use it. I have the latest ATI Catalyst drivers with WDM installed. I tried connecting my video card to the TV cable box, but when I start windows Movie Maker, I get "Unknown Error". For some reason the preview display is black. Is there a guide for this? Windows Movie maker detects my capture device as ATI Rage Theater Video Capture device. No, this is an an AIW card.

Thanks in advance,
Tiberiu

Try downloading Windows Media Encoder from HERE, and use it to capture your TV feed.

Also, don't forget to select the correct source. If you are trying to capture live TV from your cable box, you will likely use "S-Video" or "Composite In." If you have an AIW card, and are using the built in tuner, your source will need to be set to "TV Tuner" and NOT Rage Capture.

You will also need to set up audio separately, usually by using a stereo plug from the TV source to the "Line In" of your sound card. This source will also need to be specified in the capture software.

H3X4D3C1M4L will become famous soon enough
System Specs

It has video in but not a TV tuner so it has to come from an analog composite source
